Cooling scales with drive count. HPE requires the Maximum Performance fan kit for 12 LFF or more drives, for any rear drive cage, and for high-performance NVMe — and NVMe drives above 18W are not supported in the mid tray.

Do extra drives require the Maximum Performance fan kit?
