The HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen11 is the two-socket 4U tower built on the Intel C741 chipset, taking 4th and 5th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors across 32 DDR5 slots, with PCIe Gen5 risers and a front end that scales from four bays to twenty-four. • Chassis types: an 8 SFF or a 4 LFF chassis, each taking optional cage kits to a maximum of three cages
• Maximum internal storage: 368.64TB on twenty-four 15.36TB SFF SAS or NVMe SSDs, or 312TB on twelve 26TB LFF drives
• Storage controllers: MR216i, MR408i and MR416i tri-mode cards and the SR932i-p, in PCIe and OCP forms, plus embedded Intel VROC SATA RAID
• Networking: none on the system board — ports come from an OCP 3.0 adapter or a PCIe stand-up card, across two OCP slots
• Expansion: up to ten PCIe Gen5 slots across primary, secondary and tertiary risers, the last two needing a second processor
• Power and cooling: one or two Flex Slot hot-plug supplies for 1+1 redundancy, with three fans on base models and eight on performance models

Two facts surprise most first-time ML350 Gen11 buyers. The server has no network ports on the system board at all — every data port comes from an OCP 3.0 adapter or a PCIe stand-up card — and the 4U tower takes 5U of rack height once it is converted to a rack model. Plan both before the server reaches the rack.

Up to two Intel Xeon Scalable processors: 4th Generation parts reaching 60 cores and 112.5MB of L3 cache at 350W, or 5th Generation parts reaching 64 cores and 320MB of cache. HPE does not support mixing two different processor models.

How much memory can an ML350 Gen11 take?
8.0TB, using thirty-two 256GB Registered DDR5 modules at 4400 MT/s. The 32 slots are arranged sixteen per processor, so all of them require two processors fitted.

How many drives does an ML350 Gen11 hold?
Up to 24 small form factor drives as three cages of eight, or up to 12 large form factor drives as three cages of four.

Does the ML350 Gen11 have onboard network ports?
No. The QuickSpecs lists network ports as none, with a choice of OCP 3.0 adapter or PCIe stand-up card. The dedicated 1Gb iLO 6 port at the rear is for management, not data.

Is the ML350 Gen11 a tower or a rack server?
It is a 4U tower with rack conversion capability. Deployed as a rack model it takes 5U of height, one more than its tower designation suggests.

Which storage controllers does the ML350 Gen11 use?
MegaRAID tri-mode cards - MR216i, MR408i and MR416i - and the SmartRAID SR932i-p. HPE does not support mixing MR and SR series controllers internally in one server.
