This is a four-socket machine with two of its sockets on a separate board. HPE supports one, two or four processors, and the third and fourth sit on the upper CPU mezzanine board together with 24 of the server's 48 DIMM slots. The same pattern runs through the chassis: PCIe slots 4 to 8 need a second processor, and power is configured as two 1600W supplies or four 800W ones.

One, two or four Intel Xeon Scalable processors. The base chassis has two sockets; the third and fourth sit on the upper CPU mezzanine board, which also carries the second bank of 24 DIMM slots.

How much memory can a DL560 Gen10 hold?
6TB using 128GB Load Reduced DIMMs across all 48 slots. Registered DIMMs reach 3TB on 2nd generation processors and 1.5TB on 1st generation, and persistent memory reaches 12TB.

How many drives fit in a DL560 Gen10?
Up to 24 hot-plug 2.5-inch SFF drives, in three boxes of eight. Eight ship as standard in Box 3, and the Box 2 and Box 1 cage kits take the server to 16 and then 24. Up to 12 bays can be NVMe.

Does the DL560 Gen10 take 3.5-inch drives?
No. The chassis is small form factor only, with a 24 SFF front end and an optional Universal Media Bay. There is no large form factor drive cage for this server.

Does the DL560 Gen10 have onboard network ports?
Not as fixed ports. Networking comes from whichever FlexibleLOM adapter is fitted, plus any standup PCIe cards. The dedicated iLO 5 management port is separate from all of them.

Is the DL560 Gen10 worth buying parts for?
It remains a dense four-socket platform for virtualisation, consolidation and database work, and parts for it are plentiful. Because it is a 4P machine, matching processor generation, memory type and power supply count to what is installed matters more here than on a two-socket server.
