DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 at a glance

Processors

One AMD EPYC processor (single socket): an EPYC 7003 Series model (7xx3), such as the 7313P, 7443P or 7763, or one of three 7xx2 models, the 7232P, 7302P and 7402P.

HPE lists one heat sink, the factory-installed High Performance Heat Sink Kit (P41197-B21). 280W processors, such as the 7763, need the Max Performance Fan Kit (P38506-B21). DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 Processors

Memory

16 DIMM slots on 8 channels. DDR4-3200 kits only: registered 8GB to 64GB, load-reduced 128GB and 256GB. Up to 4TB with 256GB LRDIMMs in all 16 slots, which need the Max Performance Fan Kit (P38506-B21); 1TB with 64GB RDIMMs.

With two DIMMs per channel the 8GB to 128GB kits keep 3200 MT/s, while the 256GB kit, and any kit on a 7xx2 processor, runs at 2933 MT/s. RDIMMs and LRDIMMs do not mix, and x4 and x8 kits do not mix. DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 Memory

Drives

Up to 10 SFF drives, an 8SFF backplane plus one 2SFF kit (U.3 or U.2), or 4 LFF drives; LFF and SFF do not mix. Every SFF drive HPE lists is Basic Carrier (BC).

The 8SFF U.3 backplane takes SAS and SATA drives only behind a tri-mode controller, and the 2SFF U.2 kit does not fit with it. HPE offers the 8SFF chassis either a 2SFF kit or an optical drive. The 2SFF U.3 kit (P38386-B21) does not go with the MegaRAID MR416i-a, MR216i-a, MR416i-p or MR216i-p.

The embedded controller runs SATA in AHCI mode or SR100i Gen10 Plus software RAID for up to 8 SATA drives or 2 U.3 NVMe SSDs, UEFI mode and Windows Server only.

The chassis ships without fans. Before you order drives, make sure the server is a v2. Every SFF drive HPE lists for the DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 is on the Basic Carrier (BC); the DL325 Gen10 Plus takes Smart Carrier (SC) drives. The two take the same DDR4-3200 kits, so the memory does not tell them apart, but the processor can: a 7xx3 model (EPYC 7313P, 7443P) means a v2, while the 7232P, 7302P and 7402P are listed for both. Gen10 Plus, Gen10 Plus v2 or Gen11? How to tell

The last digit of the processor model number sorts most of them: 2 on the Gen10 and Gen10 Plus, 3 on the v2, 4 or 5 on the Gen11, and 5 on the Gen12 too. The v2 also lists three 7xx2 models and takes the same DDR4-3200 kits as the Gen10 Plus, so check the drives as well: Basic Carrier (BC) on the v2, Smart Carrier (SC) on the Gen10 Plus.

How much memory does the DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 support?

Up to 4TB: 256GB DDR4-3200 LRDIMMs in all 16 slots, which need the Max Performance Fan Kit (P38506-B21). With 64GB registered DIMMs the maximum is 1TB. Every kit is DDR4-3200. With two DIMMs per channel the 8GB to 128GB kits keep 3200 MT/s, while the 256GB kit, and any kit on a 7232P, 7302P or 7402P, runs at 2933 MT/s. RDIMMs and LRDIMMs do not mix, and x4 and x8 kits do not mix.

Which drives fit the DL325 Gen10 Plus v2?

SFF Basic Carrier (BC) drives in SAS, SATA, U.3 NVMe or U.2 NVMe, and in the 4LFF model LFF LP hard drives in SAS or SATA and LFF LPC SSDs. SATA M.2 SSDs fit the Universal SATA M.2 kit. Which interfaces work depends on the backplane and the controller. HPE lists no Smart Carrier (SC) drive for this server.

How do I tell which processor my DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 has?

Read the processor model in iLO under System Information › Processors. A 7xx3 model, such as the 7313P, 7443P or 7763, is an EPYC 7003 Series processor; the v2 also lists three 7xx2 models, the 7232P, 7302P and 7402P, on which memory runs at 2933 MT/s with two DIMMs per channel. 280W processors, such as the 7763, need the Max Performance Fan Kit (P38506-B21).

Is my server a DL325 Gen10 Plus, a Gen10 Plus v2 or a Gen11?

Check the processor, then the drives. A processor whose last digit is 3 (such as the 7313P) means a v2. A 4 (such as the 9124) means a Gen11. A 5 (such as the 9135) is listed for both the Gen11 and the Gen12, which has 24 DIMM slots to the Gen11's 12. A 2 is listed for the Gen10 and the Gen10 Plus, and for three v2 models, the 7232P, 7302P and 7402P. The Gen10 takes DDR4-2933 kits. The Gen10 Plus and v2 take the same DDR4-3200 kits in 16 slots, but the v2 takes Basic Carrier (BC) SFF drives and the Gen10 Plus Smart Carrier (SC). The Gen11 takes DDR5 kits in 12 slots and has iLO 6, where the v2 has iLO 5. Check that a part number is on the page for your server before you buy.
