Two things decide most DL165 G7 orders: the front end and the socket count. HPE built this chassis with four 3.5-inch bays, hot-plug or non-hot-plug, or with eight hot-plug 2.5-inch bays — and the three are not interchangeable. On the inside, a single processor leaves twelve of the 24 DIMM slots unavailable, so the second CPU is what opens the rest of the memory.
