HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen11 Parts
The HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen11 is the 2U dual-socket AMD member of the Gen11 line — 4th or 5th Generation AMD EPYC compute, 24 slots of DDR5, and front ends running from 8 LFF spindles to 48 SFF or 36 EDSFF flash bays. Every part below is genuine HPE, available new and refurbished, and tested for compatibility before it ships. Live pricing for each part number appears in the tables further down this page.
DL385 Gen11 Platform at a Glance
- Processors: one or two AMD EPYC CPUs — 4th Generation 9004 Series (up to 128 cores) or 5th Generation 9005 Series (up to 160 cores)
- Memory: 24 DIMM slots — 12 per processor, 12 channels, 1 DIMM per channel — at DDR5-4800 on 9004 or DDR5-6400 on 9005, up to 6TB
- Storage: 8SFF, 8LFF, 12 EDSFF, GPU and 48SFF CTO chassis — up to 48 SFF, 20 LFF, or 36 EDSFF E3.S bays on Basic Carrier cages
- Expansion: 160 PCIe 5.0 lanes with two processors, up to eight x16 slots across the primary, secondary, and tertiary risers
- Networking: no embedded network ports — two OCP 3.0 slots plus PCIe 5.0 stand-up adapters
- Power: Flex Slot hot-plug PSUs from 800W to 2200W, one or two as standard and four with the Power Distribution Board kit
- Management: HPE iLO 6 with Intelligent Provisioning and embedded TPM 2.0
Know your chassis before you order. The DL385 Gen11 ships as 8SFF, 8LFF, 12 EDSFF, GPU and 48SFF CTO servers, and the chassis decides which drive cages, risers and power options fit — all 24 DIMM slots, both upper risers and the second OCP slot's x16 upgrade need the second processor.
Full platform detail is in the official HPE DL385 Gen11 QuickSpecs.

DL385 Gen11 Parts FAQ
What processors does the HPE ProLiant DL385 Gen11 support?
One or two AMD EPYC processors: 4th Generation 9004 Series models from 16 to 128 cores, or 5th Generation 9005 Series models from 8 to 160 cores. Both sockets must hold the identical processor model.
How much memory does the DL385 Gen11 support?
Up to 6TB of DDR5 - 24 x 256GB RDIMMs with two processors installed. Each processor owns 12 slots across 12 channels at one DIMM per channel, running at 4800 MT/s on 9004 CPUs or 6400 MT/s on 9005.
What drives does the DL385 Gen11 accept?
Basic Carrier U.3 SFF drives (up to 48 in the 48SFF CTO chassis), EDSFF E3.S 1T NVMe (up to 36), or LFF spindles (up to 20 with the mid tray and rear cage). NVMe requires a U.3 tri-mode backplane.
Does the DL385 Gen11 have built-in network ports?
No. The QuickSpecs list network ports as none, with a choice of OCP or stand-up card. Only the dedicated 1GbE iLO management port is fitted as standard.
What is the difference between the DL385 Gen11 and the DL380 Gen11?
Processor architecture. The DL385 Gen11 is the 2U AMD EPYC model with 24 DIMM slots at 12 channels per socket; the DL380 Gen11 is the Intel Xeon equivalent. Drives and Flex Slot power supplies overlap, but processors, memory kits, and risers do not.
Can I mix new and refurbished parts in the DL385 Gen11?
Yes. Genuine HPE parts perform identically whether new or refurbished, and refurbished stock is tested before shipping - a common way to add memory, drives, or a redundant power supply at lower cost.
