HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 Drives
Genuine HPE hot-plug drives for the HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10, new and refurbished, tested before shipping. Three front ends cover the platform — 8SFF SAS/SATA, 8SFF NVMe, and 4LFF — and either SFF chassis takes one optional two-bay cage to reach ten drives.
DL325 Gen10 Drive Specifications
- Chassis options: 8SFF SAS/SATA, 8SFF NVMe, or 4LFF — each SFF chassis accepts a single 2SFF cage, either SAS/SATA or NVMe, never both
- Interfaces: SAS 12G, SATA 6G, and NVMe in Gen3 U.2 and Gen4 U.3 forms
- Carriers: SFF drives use the Smart Carrier (SC and SCN); LFF drives use the low-profile (LP/LPC) carrier
- Maximum capacity: 153.6TB of SFF NVMe (8+2 × 15.36TB), 153TB of SFF SAS SSD, 76.8TB of SFF SATA SSD, or 56TB across four LFF spindles
- SSD endurance classes: Read Intensive, Mixed Use, Write Intensive, and Very Read Optimized, in standard 12G SAS, 12G Value SAS, SATA, and NVMe
- M.2 boot: the Universal SATA 6G AIC HHHL M.2 Enablement Kit occupies a PCIe slot and holds up to two matching M.2 2280 SSDs
Decide on the 2SFF cage before you buy drives. Either SFF chassis takes just one two-bay cage — SAS/SATA or NVMe, never both — so an 8SFF server becomes either 10 SAS/SATA bays or 8 SAS/SATA plus 2 NVMe. SFF drives need the Smart Carrier; the 4LFF bays use the low-profile carrier.
What drives fit the DL325 Gen10?
| Front end | Carrier | Interfaces | Max bays |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8SFF SAS/SATA chassis | Smart Carrier | SAS 12G, SATA 6G | 8, or 10 with the 2SFF cage |
| 8SFF NVMe chassis | Smart Carrier | NVMe U.2 and U.3 | 8, or 10 with the 2SFF NVMe kit |
| 4LFF chassis | Low profile (LP) | SAS 12G, SATA 6G | 4 |
The 2SFF cage is where mixed builds come from: an 8SFF SAS/SATA chassis plus the 2SFF NVMe kit gives 8 SAS/SATA bays and 2 NVMe bays, and the NVMe chassis with the 2SFF SAS/SATA kit inverts that. Only one cage fits per server.
Choosing the Right DL325 Gen10 Drives
- Build arrays from identical drives — don't mix interfaces, capacities, or endurance classes inside one RAID set.
- Match endurance to workload: Read Intensive for serving, Mixed Use for databases, Write Intensive for log-heavy roles — our DWPD guide explains the classes.
- Value SAS sits between SATA and full 12G SAS: the SS540 Value SAS SSDs are listed in both Read Intensive and Mixed Use flavors — here's what Value SAS actually means.
- Check U.2 against U.3 before reusing NVMe stock: the qualified list spans Gen3 U.2 and Gen4 U.3 drives — see the U.2 and U.3 comparison.
- LFF is for capacity, not IOPS: the 4LFF bays list Business Critical 7.2K SAS and SATA spindles up to 18TB, against just two LFF SSD options.

DL325 Gen10 Drives FAQ
How many drives fit in a DL325 Gen10?
Eight SFF drives as standard on the 8SFF or 8SFF NVMe chassis, or ten with the optional 2SFF cage. The 4LFF chassis takes four 3.5-inch spindles and has no 2SFF option.
Does the HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 support NVMe drives?
Yes. There is a dedicated 8SFF NVMe chassis, and the 2SFF NVMe Enablement Kit adds two more bays for ten NVMe drives - up to 153.6TB using 15.36TB SSDs.
Can I add NVMe drives to the 8SFF SAS/SATA chassis?
Yes, through the 2SFF NVMe Enablement Kit, which gives you 8 SAS/SATA bays plus 2 NVMe bays. Only one 2SFF kit can be installed, so it is either the NVMe kit or the SAS/SATA kit.
What drive carrier does the DL325 Gen10 use?
SFF drives use the HPE Smart Carrier (SC and SCN variants) and LFF drives use the low-profile LP carrier. Buy drives already fitted in the correct carrier for the chassis you have.
What is the difference between Read Intensive, Mixed Use, and Write Intensive SSDs?
Endurance. Read Intensive drives cost least per TB and suit read-heavy serving, Mixed Use handles databases and virtualization, and Write Intensive is built for sustained writes. The DL325 Gen10 lists all three, plus Very Read Optimized SATA SSDs.
Are HPE Multi Vendor drives genuine HPE drives?
Yes. Multi Vendor drives carry HPE part numbers and HPE firmware, and are sourced from more than one manufacturer for availability. The DL325 Gen10 option list includes Multi Vendor HDDs and SSDs.
