This is a Smart Carrier (SC) platform: SAS, SATA and U.3 NVMe drives use the SC tray while U.2 NVMe drives use the Smart Carrier NVMe (SCN) tray, and the two NVMe formats connect through different cage kits — a U.2 SSD will not serve a U.3 backplane.

How many drives fit in a DL325 Gen10 Plus?
Up to 24 SFF drives in SAS/SATA or U.3 NVMe, up to 16 SFF U.2 NVMe drives, or up to 12 LFF spindles, depending on the chassis. Optional 2SFF enablement kits add bays to the 8SFF chassis.

Does the DL325 Gen10 Plus use Smart Carrier or Basic Carrier drives?
Smart Carrier. SAS, SATA, and U.3 NVMe drives use the Smart Carrier (SC) tray, U.2 NVMe drives use the Smart Carrier NVMe (SCN) tray, and LFF drives use the Low Profile (LP) tray. Basic Carrier drives from later ProLiant generations do not fit.

What is the maximum storage capacity of the DL325 Gen10 Plus?
368.64TB with 24 x 15.36TB U.3 NVMe SSDs, 367.2TB with 24 x 15.3TB SAS SSDs, or 240TB with 12 x 20TB LFF spindles.

Can I mix LFF and SFF drives in the DL325 Gen10 Plus?
No. The QuickSpecs states that mixing LFF and SFF is not supported - the chassis is built around one cage family, and the 2SFF add-on kits cannot be selected alongside LFF drive cages.

Are U.2 and U.3 NVMe drives interchangeable in this server?
No. They ride different carriers and connect through different cage kits: U.3 drives use the Smart Carrier and the U.3 cages, while U.2 drives use the Smart Carrier NVMe tray and the U.2 cage kits. Order the drive that matches the backplane you have.

Does the DL325 Gen10 Plus support NVMe boot drives?
Yes. The NS204i-p is a PCIe3 x8 NVMe OS boot device for this platform. It requires UEFI and is not supported in Legacy mode. M.2 SATA SSDs on the Universal HHHL kit are the other boot route.
