Memory Population Rules

For best performance, install matched DDR5 RDIMM kits and fill the white (first) slot in each channel before the second. Supported DIMM counts are 1, 2, 4, 8, 12, or 16 with P-core Xeon® 6 CPUs (1, 2, 4, 8, or 16 with E-core CPUs), and 256GB modules require the HPE High-Performance Fan Kit. What type of memory does the HPE DL320 Gen12 use?
DDR5 ECC Registered (RDIMM) memory only — LRDIMM, unbuffered (UDIMM), and non-ECC modules are not supported.

How much memory can the DL320 Gen12 hold?
Up to 4TB total, using 16 × 256GB DDR5 RDIMMs across its 16 DIMM slots. Note that 256GB modules require high-performance fans.

What is the maximum memory speed?
Up to 6400 MT/s with one DIMM per channel, or 6000 MT/s when both slots in a channel are populated. The exact maximum depends on the installed Intel Xeon 6 processor, and the server runs all memory at the slowest installed speed.

Does the DL320 Gen12 support MRDIMM?
The platform supports MRDIMM (up to 8000 MT/s, one DIMM per channel, with P-core Xeon 6 CPUs), but HPE has not yet released MRDIMM kits into the standard ProLiant portfolio. DDR5 RDIMM is the memory to buy for this server today.
