DL360 Gen10 at a glance

Processors

Up to two Intel Xeon Scalable processors of the same model, named Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum: 1st Gen (model numbers x1xx) or 2nd Gen (x2xx). U models, such as the Gold 6212U, run in single-socket configurations only. HPE does not support a field upgrade from 1st to 2nd Gen.

Processor kits ship with a heat sink: High Performance for 130W or more and for the 8256, 5222, 8156, 6128 and 5122, Standard for the rest.

In the 4LFF and 8SFF models one processor runs 5 fans and two run 7, and a -B21 processor kit includes the 2 extra fans, except the Gold 6256, 6250L, 6250 and U models; the 10SFF NVMe model has 7 High Performance fans as standard.

The Gold 6250 and 6250L are not supported in the 10SFF NVMe chassis or with the 2SFF media-bay cages, and the 6250 needs high-performance fans, takes no NVMe SSDs and supports an inlet of up to 25°C in the 4LFF and 8SFF models. DL360 Gen10 Processors

Memory

24 DIMM slots, 12 per processor on 6 channels. DDR4-2666 kits for 1st Gen, DDR4-2933 for 2nd Gen: RDIMMs from 8GB to 64GB, LRDIMMs of 64GB and 128GB.

Up to 3TB with 128GB LRDIMMs and processors whose model number ends in M or L; other processors address up to 768GB (1st Gen) or 1TB (2nd Gen) each. 1.54TB with 64GB RDIMMs; RDIMMs and LRDIMMs do not mix.

HPE Persistent Memory works only with 2nd Gen Platinum 8200, Gold 6200 and 5200, and Silver 4215 and 4215R processors; NVDIMMs mix only with RDIMMs. DL360 Gen10 Memory

Drives

Up to 11 SFF drives (8 front, 2 in the Universal Media Bay with a 2SFF backplane kit, 1 rear with the 1SFF rear backplane kit), 10 NVMe SSDs in the 10SFF NVMe Premium model, or 4 LFF drives in the 4LFF model, whose rear drive option adds 1 SFF.

The rear backplane kit takes the primary riser's place and its full-height slot 1, so it does not go with the SATA M.2 riser or the 2SFF NVMe kit. The 8SFF model takes 2 NVMe SSDs in its media bay with the 2SFF NVMe backplane kit.

Standard models take Smart Carrier (SC) drives; the 8SFF BC models take Basic Carrier (BC) SAS and SATA drives with MegaRAID controllers and no NVMe, and BC and SC drives do not mix. Two SATA M.2 SSDs fit the SATA M.2 riser. DL360 Gen10 Drives

Storage controllers

Embedded S100i software RAID for up to 12 SATA bays: UEFI mode only, off until enabled, Windows Server only. Smart Array E208i, P408i and P816i; Broadcom MegaRAID MR216i and MR416i on the 8SFF BC models. A PCIe card longer than half-length in slot 2 or 3 needs the low-height (LH) controller. Networking

Expansion

Up to 3 PCIe 3.0 slots (2 with the rear drive kit): 2 on the primary riser and 1 on the secondary riser, which needs processor 2. A full-height secondary riser takes away primary slot 2; the 10SFF NVMe chassis has no secondary riser. Riser cards

On these Xeon Scalable models, named Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum, the second digit of the model number tells you: a 1 (Gold 6130, Silver 4110) is 1st Gen and takes DDR4-2666 kits; a 2 (Gold 6230, Silver 4210) is 2nd Gen and takes DDR4-2933 kits. DL360 Gen10 parts questions

How much memory does the DL360 Gen10 support?

Up to 3TB with two processors: 128GB DDR4 LRDIMMs in all 24 slots, which needs processors whose model number ends in M or L. Other processors address up to 768GB each (1st Gen) or 1TB each (2nd Gen). With registered DIMMs the maximum is 1.54TB (64GB RDIMMs in every slot), and RDIMMs and LRDIMMs do not mix. A single processor can use only its 12 slots. 1st Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors take DDR4-2666 kits and 2nd Gen processors take DDR4-2933 kits.

Which drives fit the DL360 Gen10?

2.5-inch SFF drives on the Smart Carrier (SC) in SAS or SATA, and SFF NVMe SSDs on the SCN carrier; 3.5-inch LFF drives in the 4LFF model; and SATA M.2 SSDs on the SATA M.2 riser or in a dual M.2 carrier. The 8SFF BC models, built for Broadcom MegaRAID controllers, take Basic Carrier (BC) SAS and SATA drives instead, and SC and BC drives do not mix. Which interfaces work depends on the drive cage and the controller.

How do I tell which processor generation my DL360 Gen10 has?

Read the processor model in iLO under System Information › Processors. On these Xeon Scalable models, named Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum, the second digit of the model number is the generation: a 1 (Gold 6130, Silver 4110) means 1st Gen, a 2 (Gold 6230, Silver 4210) means 2nd Gen. It decides the memory kit: DDR4-2666 for 1st Gen, DDR4-2933 for 2nd Gen. HPE does not support a field upgrade from 1st to 2nd Gen, and two processors must be the same model.

Is my server a DL360 Gen10, a Gen9 or a Gen10 Plus?

Check the processor model number. The Gen10 runs 1st or 2nd Gen Xeon Scalable processors, named Platinum, Gold, Silver or Bronze with a 1 or 2 as the second digit of the model number (Gold 6130, Gold 6230), with DDR4-2666 or DDR4-2933 memory in 24 slots. The Gen9 runs Xeon E5-2600 v3 or v4 processors (such as E5-2650 v4) with DDR4-2133 or DDR4-2400 memory, also in 24 slots. The Gen10 Plus runs 3rd Gen Xeon Scalable processors (x3xx, such as Gold 6338) with DDR4-3200 memory in 32 slots. Memory kits and processors differ between them, so buy those from the page for your generation.
