HPE ProLiant DL380p Gen8 Parts
The HPE ProLiant DL380p Gen8 is the performance line of the two-socket 2U DL380 Gen8 family: Intel Xeon E5-2600 and E5-2600 v2 processors on the Intel C600 chipset, 24 DDR3 DIMM slots, and a choice of 8SFF, 8LFF, 12LFF or 25SFF drive bays. Its entry-level sibling, the DL380e Gen8, runs the Intel Xeon E5-2400 family, so processors and memory do not carry across. Every part below is genuine HPE, available new and refurbished, and tested for compatibility before it ships. Live pricing for each part number appears in the tables further down this page.
DL380p Gen8 Platform at a Glance

- Management: HPE iLO 4 with a dedicated 1Gb management port, Agentless Management and Intelligent Provisioning
The p and the e are different servers. The DL380p Gen8 is the performance line — Intel Xeon E5-2600 and E5-2600 v2 on the Intel C600 chipset, 24 DIMM slots — while the entry-level DL380e Gen8 runs the Intel Xeon E5-2400 family. Processors and memory kits do not carry across, so check the badge on the chassis before ordering either.
Rail kits, riser and GPU cage kits, graphics accelerators, PCIe workload accelerators, cable kits and flash media all sit on this page rather than in their own category. Platform detail is in the official HPE ProLiant DL380p Gen8 QuickSpecs.

DL380p Gen8 Parts FAQ
What is the difference between the DL380p Gen8 and the DL380e Gen8?
They are separate platforms with separate QuickSpecs. The DL380p Gen8 is the performance line, running Intel Xeon E5-2600 and E5-2600 v2 processors on the Intel C600 chipset with 24 DIMM slots; the entry-level DL380e Gen8 runs the Intel Xeon E5-2400 family. Processors and memory kits do not carry across.
How many processors and how much memory does the DL380p Gen8 take?
Up to two, and mixing different processor models is not supported. Memory runs to 24 DIMM slots - 12 per processor, four channels each, three DIMMs per channel - for a stated maximum of 768GB on 32GB LRDIMMs. One processor exposes only half the slots.
What drive configurations does the DL380p Gen8 come in?
Four: 8 SFF, 8 LFF, 12 LFF or 25 SFF hot-plug bays, with an optional second 8SFF cage taking that model to 16 bays. HPE states the 8LFF, 12LFF and 25SFF cage versions are not field upgradeable from the 8SFF model.
Does the DL380p Gen8 come with rails?
Not necessarily. HPE states that rail kits are optional for the DL380p Gen8 and are no longer included standard with the server. Ball bearing and Easy Install 2U rail kits are listed in SFF and LFF versions, with or without a cable management arm.
Can the DL380p Gen8 run GPUs?
Yes. HPE lists up to three single-width or two double-width NVIDIA Quadro cards, up to two GRID cards, or up to two Tesla cards or Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors. Two double-wide cards need both double-wide risers and the 1200W supply, and several cards are E5-2600 v2 only.
Can I mix new and refurbished parts in the DL380p Gen8?
Yes. Genuine HPE parts perform identically whether new or refurbished, and our refurbished stock is tested before shipping - a common way to add DIMMs, drives or a second power supply at lower cost.
