HPE ProLiant DL365 Gen11 Parts

The HPE ProLiant DL365 Gen11 is HPE's rack-optimized 1U two-socket AMD server — two AMD EPYC processors, 24 slots of DDR5, PCIe 5.0 throughout, and front ends running from 8 SFF bays to a 20 EDSFF drive bay chassis. It is a System on Chip design with no separate chipset, managed by an HPE iLO 6 ASIC. Every part below is genuine HPE, available new and refurbished, and tested for compatibility before it ships. Live pricing for each part number appears in the tables further down this page.

DL365 Gen11 Platform at a Glance

  • Processors: up to two AMD EPYC CPUs — 5th Generation 9005 Series from 8 to 160 cores, or 4th Generation 9004 Series from 16 to 128 cores
  • Memory: 24 DDR5 RDIMM slots — 12 slots and 12 channels per processor at 1 DIMM per channel — with a stated maximum capacity of 6.0 TB
  • Storage: 8 SFF with an optional 2 SFF U.3 Tri-mode cage for 10 SFF total, a 20 EDSFF drive bay chassis, or a GPU chassis with 8 EDSFF or 4 SFF U.3 NVMe bays
  • Expansion: PCIe 5.0 x16 primary and secondary riser slots plus GPU riser slots — 160 PCIe 5.0 lanes with two sockets
  • Networking: no network ports standard — a choice of OCP 3.0 or stand-up PCIe adapter on every build
  • Power and cooling: one or two HPE Flex Slot hot-plug power supplies; up to 7 fans with fan redundancy built in
  • Management: HPE iLO 6 with Intelligent Provisioning, HPE OneView Standard, and embedded TPM 2.0

Count your processors before you plan the build. The DL365 Gen11 has 24 DIMM slots, 12 per processor, and the QuickSpecs state that 24 slots require two processors selected. Mixing two different processor models is not allowed, so a second CPU has to be the same model as the first.

Full platform detail is in the official HPE DL365 Gen11 QuickSpecs.

DL365 Gen11 Parts FAQ

What processors does the HPE ProLiant DL365 Gen11 use?
Up to two AMD EPYC processors. The QuickSpecs list two families for this server: the 5th Generation 9005 Series from 8 to 160 cores, and the 4th Generation 9004 Series from 16 to 128 cores. Mixing two different processor models is not allowed.

How much memory does the DL365 Gen11 support?
The QuickSpecs give a maximum RDIMM capacity of 6.0 TB, stated as 24 x 256GB RDIMM at 1 DIMM per channel. The platform has 24 DIMM slots - 12 slots and 12 channels per processor - and 24 slots require two processors.

Does the DL365 Gen11 have built-in network ports?
No. The QuickSpecs list network ports as none, with a choice of OCP or stand-up card, so every build needs a network adapter. There is a separate 1 Gb dedicated iLO remote management port and a front iLO service port.

What drive bays does the DL365 Gen11 have?
It ships in three chassis types: 8 SFF with an optional 2 SFF U.3 Tri-mode cage for 10 SFF total, a 20 EDSFF drive bay chassis, and a GPU chassis carrying 8 EDSFF or 4 SFF U.3 NVMe bays. No hard drives ship standard.

Is the DL365 Gen11 a one-socket or two-socket server?
Two. HPE describes it as a rack-optimized 1U 2P dense solution, and the motherboard interconnects two processors over 3XGMI by default. A second processor is what unlocks the full 24 DIMM slots and 160 PCIe 5.0 lanes.

Can I mix new and refurbished parts in the DL365 Gen11?
Yes. Genuine HPE parts perform identically whether new or refurbished, and refurbished stock is tested before shipping - a common way to add memory, drives, or a second power supply at lower cost.
