HPE ProLiant DL365 Gen11 Networking Adapters
Genuine HPE network adapters for the HPE ProLiant DL365 Gen11, new and refurbished. The QuickSpecs list this platform's network ports as none, with a choice of OCP or stand-up card — so every build starts with an adapter. The chassis provides two OCP 3.0 slots plus PCIe 5.0 x16 riser slots.
DL365 Gen11 Networking Specifications
- Form factors: OCP 3.0 Slot 1 and Slot 2, plus PCIe 5.0 x16 cards in the primary, secondary, and GPU riser slots
- OCP lane width: the x16 OCP1 1P upgrade cable kit takes OCP1 from x8 to x16, and the x16 OCP1 OCP2 2P upgrade cable kit takes both to x16
- Ethernet speeds: 1Gb BASE-T, 10Gb BASE-T and SFP+, 10/25Gb SFP28 and SFP56, 100Gb QSFP28, QSFP56 and QSFP112, and a 200Gb PCIe NIC
- InfiniBand: NDR200 and NDR 400Gb adapters on PCIe5 x16, in OSFP and QSFP112
- Silicon: HPE-qualified Broadcom, Intel, Mellanox and NVIDIA, and AMD Solarflare adapters
- Management port: a separate 1 Gb dedicated iLO port, plus a front iLO service port
Order a network adapter with the server. The QuickSpecs list this platform's network ports as none, with a choice of OCP or stand-up card. Both OCP 3.0 slots are x8 by default — the 1P upgrade cable kit takes OCP1 to x16, and the 2P kit takes OCP1 and OCP2 to x16.
Which network adapter fits the DL365 Gen11?
| Speed | Media | Form factors listed |
|---|---|---|
| 1Gb | RJ-45 BASE-T | PCIe and OCP 3.0 |
| 10Gb | BASE-T or SFP+ | PCIe and OCP 3.0 |
| 10/25Gb | SFP28 | PCIe and OCP 3.0 |
| 100Gb | QSFP28 and QSFP112 | PCIe and OCP 3.0 |
| InfiniBand NDR200 and NDR 400Gb | OSFP, QSFP112 | PCIe5 x16 |
Cabling is never included. The QuickSpecs state that Direct Attach Cables for copper environments, or fiber transceivers and cables for fiber-optic environments, must be purchased separately. Two OCP adapters are also documented as needing an OCP upgrade cable kit selected alongside them.
Choosing the Right DL365 Gen11 Network Adapter
- Use the OCP slots first. In 1U the PCIe riser slots are scarce and better saved for storage controllers, GPUs, or InfiniBand. Remember that OROC storage controllers also compete for OCP space.
- Check the OCP link width. The 1P upgrade cable kit cannot be selected when two processors are configured, and limits the server to one OCP card; the 2P kit needs two processors and blocks the secondary riser upgrade kit.
- Budget for fans. The QuickSpecs state that almost all PCIe networking cards need 7 performance fans.
- InfiniBand NDR carries real constraints: it requires the performance heat sink or a DLC module plus 7 performance fan kits, limits 256GB memory to 12 modules, and restricts the 8SFF CTO model to 6 SFF drives.
- Watch the ambient rating with optics: several 100Gb adapters are documented at 25C ambient in an 8SFF configuration with Active Optical Cables.

DL365 Gen11 Networking Adapters FAQ
Does the HPE ProLiant DL365 Gen11 have built-in Ethernet ports?
No. The QuickSpecs interfaces table lists network ports as none, with a choice of OCP or stand-up card supporting a wide range of NIC adapters. There is a separate 1 Gb dedicated iLO remote management network port and a front iLO service port.
How many OCP slots does the DL365 Gen11 have?
Two. The internal view identifies OCP 3.0 Slot 1 and OCP 3.0 Slot 2. Both are x8 by default; the x16 OCP1 1P upgrade cable kit takes OCP1 to x16, and the x16 OCP1 OCP2 2P upgrade cable kit takes both to x16.
What network speeds does the DL365 Gen11 support?
The QuickSpecs list 1Gb BASE-T, 10Gb BASE-T and SFP+, 10/25Gb SFP28 and SFP56, 100Gb in QSFP28, QSFP56 and QSFP112, and a 200Gb PCIe NIC. InfiniBand NDR200 and NDR 400Gb adapters are listed separately on PCIe5 x16.
Do DL365 Gen11 network adapters include transceivers or cables?
No. The QuickSpecs state that Direct Attach Cables for copper environments, or fiber transceivers and cables for fiber-optic environments, must be purchased separately. BASE-T adapters connect with standard copper patch cables.
Why do network adapters change my fan selection?
The QuickSpecs state that almost all PCIe networking cards need 7 performance fans. InfiniBand NDR 200Gb and 400Gb adapters go further and require the performance heat sink or a DLC module along with 7 performance fan kits.
Can I mix Broadcom, Intel, and NVIDIA adapters in one DL365 Gen11?
Yes. The QuickSpecs list Broadcom, Intel, Mellanox and NVIDIA, and AMD Solarflare adapters for this platform, in both PCIe and OCP 3.0 form factors. A common build pairs an OCP adapter for general traffic with a PCIe card for storage or low-latency networks.
