Processors

One AMD EPYC 7002 Series processor (single socket), a 7xx2 model such as the 7302P, 7402P or 7F72; HPE lists no 7xx3 model for this server. HPE lists them as factory-installed (FIO) kits, each shipping with a Standard or High Performance heat sink. DL325 Gen10 Plus Processors

Memory

16 DIMM slots on 8 channels. DDR4-3200 kits only: registered 8GB to 64GB, load-reduced 128GB and 256GB. Up to 4TB with 256GB LRDIMMs in all 16 slots (HPE's memory table prints 2.0TB, with 128GB LRDIMMs), 1TB with 64GB RDIMMs.

RDIMMs and LRDIMMs do not mix, x4 and x8 kits do not mix, and two DIMMs per channel run at 2933 MT/s. DL325 Gen10 Plus Memory

Drives

Up to 24 SFF drives in the 24SFF and 24SFF U.3 models, or 12 LFF in the 12LFF model.

The CTO model (P18606-B21) takes a 4LFF cage, and a second for 8 LFF, or an 8SFF cage, and a second for 16 SFF, with an optional 2SFF SAS/SATA, 2SFF NVMe or dual uFF kit that does not fit with LFF cages; a field upgrade to 16 SFF uses the 16SFF SAS Expander Kit (P16946-B21). LFF and SFF do not mix. SFF drives are Smart Carrier (SC).

Some SSDs are not supported with three 8SFF cages, as in the 24SFF models, or with two 8SFF cages and the Megacell battery. Some U.3 SSDs are not supported with three NVMe cages above 25C. HPE notes each limit under the drive. DL325 Gen10 Plus Drives

Optical drives

An optical drive fits the CTO model only, not the 12LFF, 24SFF or 24SFF U.3 models. It needs the LFF cable kit (P15911-B21) on the 4LFF CTO model or the 8SFF enablement kit (P20423-B21) on the 8SFF CTO model, and it does not go with the 2SFF SAS/SATA or 2SFF UFF enablement kit. Optical drives

Storage controllers

Smart Array E208, P408 and P816i-a controllers. The 24SFF U.3 model takes no storage controller. Performance RAID controllers need the 12W Smart Storage Battery (782961-B21); the E208i-p and P408i-p cannot be used with 4LFF drive cages. DL325 Gen10 Plus Storage Controllers

Networking

A choice of OCP 3.0 and stand-up PCIe adapters; HPE's default for CTO servers is the Intel I350-T4 OCP3 adapter. Some OCP3 adapters need the OCP Upgrade Cable Kit (P16976-B21) for x16. A dedicated 1Gb iLO port. DL325 Gen10 Plus Networking Adapters

Expansion

Up to 3 PCIe 4.0 slots on the one processor: x16 full-height and x16 low-profile on the primary riser, and a secondary riser for a low-profile or full-height half-length card, which leaves slot 2 unavailable when full-height. The 24SFF model uses slot 1 for its SAS expander, the 24SFF U.3 model slots 2 and 3 for its NVMe connection. Riser cards

Cooling

The Additional Standard Fan Kit (P20422-B21) is needed with the 12W Smart Storage Battery on a single 4LFF or 8SFF cage, and one per InfiniBand adapter on a single drive cage.

The Maximum Performance Fan Kit (P37110-B21) is needed for the MCX623106AS-CDAT 100GbE adapter on the default cage alone. HPE's note on the MCX515A-CCAT 100Gb adapter (P31246-B21) says it needs a high performance fan kit; it fits slot 1 or 2 only. Fan kits

Power

Before you order, make sure the server is a Gen10 Plus. A DL325 Gen10 Plus takes DDR4-3200 kits and Smart Carrier (SC) SFF drives, and HPE lists only EPYC 7xx2 processors for it, such as the 7302P and 7402P. A DL325 Gen10 runs 7xx2 processors too but takes DDR4-2933 kits. A DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 takes the same DDR4-3200 kits but Basic Carrier (BC) SFF drives; a 7xx3 processor (EPYC 7313P, 7443P) means a v2. Gen10, Gen10 Plus or Gen10 Plus v2? How to tell

EPYC 7xx2 processors are listed for all three servers, so the processor alone may not settle it. The memory tells the Gen10 (DDR4-2933) from the two Gen10 Plus models (DDR4-3200). A 7xx3 processor, or Basic Carrier (BC) drives, mean a Gen10 Plus v2.

How much memory does the DL325 Gen10 Plus support?

Up to 4TB: 256GB DDR4-3200 LRDIMMs in all 16 slots. HPE's memory table prints 2.0TB with 128GB LRDIMMs, but HPE lists the 256GB LRDIMM and gives every processor 4TB, and 16 x 256GB is 4TB. With 64GB registered DIMMs the maximum is 1TB. RDIMMs and LRDIMMs do not mix, x4 and x8 kits do not mix, and with two DIMMs per channel the memory runs at 2933 MT/s.

Which drives fit the DL325 Gen10 Plus?

SFF Smart Carrier (SC) drives in SAS, SATA or U.3 NVMe, U.2 NVMe drives as SFF SCN, LFF LP hard drives in SAS or SATA, LFF LPC SSDs, and SATA M.2 SSDs. Which interfaces work depends on the drive cage and the controller. HPE lists no Basic Carrier (BC) drive for this server.

Which processors does the DL325 Gen10 Plus take?

One AMD EPYC 7002 Series processor, a 7xx2 model such as the 7302P, 7402P or 7F72; read the model in iLO under System Information › Processors. HPE lists them as factory-installed kits, each with a Standard or High Performance heat sink. A 7xx3 model, such as the 7313P, means the server is a Gen10 Plus v2.

Is my server a DL325 Gen10, a Gen10 Plus or a Gen10 Plus v2?

Check the memory, the processor and the drives. The Gen10 takes DDR4-2933 kits and has a FlexibleLOM slot; the Gen10 Plus and Gen10 Plus v2 take the same DDR4-3200 kits and have an OCP 3.0 slot. EPYC 7xx2 processors such as the 7302P are listed for all three, while a 7xx3 processor (such as the 7313P or 7443P) means a Gen10 Plus v2. The Gen10 Plus takes Smart Carrier (SC) SFF drives, the Gen10 Plus v2 Basic Carrier (BC). All three have 16 DIMM slots.
