Match the cabling to the switch

Check the cooling

HPE notes that the 100/200/400 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe adapters and the 100 Gigabit Ethernet OCP 3.0 adapters require the Performance Fan Kit P58465-B21 (one fan per kit, six per server).

Rule 3

Mind the slot rules

In the SFF server, slot 3 works only with the 8SFF x4 DAC, 8SFF/EDSFF or 36EDSFF x2 R1S DA cable kit, or an internal controller.

HPE: “In SFF CTO Server Slot 3 can be enabled only if 8SFF x4 DAC or 8SFF/EDSFF cable kit or 36EDSFF x2 R1S DA Cable Kit or Internal controller is selected.” (page 28)

The DL340 Gen12 takes network adapters in its OCP 3.0 slots and in up to two PCIe 5.0 slots. No PCIe riser as standard: every CTO server takes an optional primary and secondary CEM riser.

Does the DL340 Gen12 have network ports built in?

No embedded network controller or ports; an OCP or stand-up network card is required. Every CTO server is ordered with a choice of OCP 3.0 or stand-up network adapters, which need the right fan kits for the ambient temperature.

What does “Listed in QuickSpecs version 17” mean?

It means the adapter is in version 17 of HPE's QuickSpecs for the DL340 Gen12, the edition this page is built from.
