With only two PCIe slots in 1U, the OCP bays carry most builds. HPE also publishes a per-adapter ambient temperature matrix by chassis: several 25GbE and 100GbE adapters are rated to a lower inlet temperature than the rest, and a few are listed as not supported in the GPU chassis.
Choosing the Right DL320 Gen12 Network Adapter
- Use the OCP slots first. Slot A is embedded, slot B is optional, and front OCP needs its own enablement kit — spending a PCIe slot on a NIC costs a riser you may want for storage.
- Match the media to your fabric. BASE-T runs on existing copper; SFP28, QSFP, and OSFP ports need DAC cables or optics ordered separately.
- Fan selection is not optional above 10GbE: HPE requires high-performance fans with any 25Gb or faster Ethernet adapter, and with an InfiniBand adapter.
- Expect no link LED from OCP NICs. The front NIC LED display does not show ACT/LINK indication from OCP adapters on this chassis.

No. The QuickSpecs state the server does not include a network controller and list network ports as none standard, calling for an OCP 3.0 or stand-up PCIe adapter. The dedicated 1GbE iLO port on the DC-SCM module is separate from production networking.
How many OCP slots does the DL320 Gen12 have?
