HPE ProLiant DL320e Gen8 v2 Parts

The HPE ProLiant DL320e Gen8 v2 is an entry-level single-processor 1U short-depth rack server on the Intel C222 chipset, with four DDR3 UDIMM slots, two PCIe 3.0 slots and a 4 SFF or 2 LFF drive cage. This is the v2 revision, a separate platform from the original DL320e Gen8 — later processors, a different chipset, a different drive cage — so check the badge and shop DL320e Gen8 parts if yours is the earlier machine. Every part below is genuine HPE, available new and refurbished, and tested for compatibility before it ships. Live pricing for each part number appears in the tables further down this page.

DL320e Gen8 v2 Platform at a Glance

  • Processor: one Intel Xeon E3-1200 v3, Core i3-4100 or Pentium G3200 series processor on the Intel C222 chipset, 2-core and 4-core parts from 25W to 82W
  • Memory: 4 DIMM slots, 2 channels at 2 DIMMs per channel, HPE SmartMemory unbuffered ECC DDR3 only, to a stated 32GB (4 × 8GB at 1600MHz); no RDIMM support
  • Storage: a 4 SFF hot-plug cage or a 2 LFF hot-plug or non-hot-plug cage, fixed at build — LFF and SFF are not upgradeable from one to the other
  • Maximum internal storage: 16.0TB on two 8TB LFF drives, 4.8TB on four 1.2TB SFF SAS, 3.2TB on four 800GB SFF SSDs
  • Storage controller: Dynamic Smart Array B120i on Base models, Smart Array P222/512MB FBWC on Performance models
  • Expansion: two PCIe 3.0 slots — slot 1 x8 electrical in an x16 connector, half-length full-height; slot 2 x4 electrical in an x8 connector, low profile
  • Networking and management: an embedded 1Gb 2-port NC332i adapter, plus HPE iLO 4 on a dedicated 1Gb management port
  • Power and cooling: the default supply is 250W non-hot-plug and non-redundant in every region, with three fan assemblies, also non-redundant
  • Racking: HPE states no rail kits are included with the server

Check the badge before you order anything. The DL320e Gen8 v2 and the original DL320e Gen8 are separate platforms with separate QuickSpecs and separate parts pages — the v2 runs Intel Xeon E3-1200 v3, Core i3-4100 and Pentium G3200 series processors on the C222 chipset. Two more facts worth knowing up front: memory stops at 32GB of unbuffered ECC DDR3, and no rail kits are included.

Optical drives, RDX disk backup, the Trusted Platform Module and security bezel, and USB and microSD flash media all list on this page rather than under a category of their own. Full platform detail is in the official HPE ProLiant DL320e Gen8 v2 QuickSpecs.

DL320e Gen8 v2 Parts FAQ

What is the HPE ProLiant DL320e Gen8 v2?
It is an entry-level single-processor 1U short-depth rack server on the Intel C222 chipset, with four DDR3 UDIMM slots, two PCIe 3.0 slots and either a 4 SFF or a 2 LFF drive cage. HPE positions it for small businesses, chain stores and telecommunications firms running file and print, web serving, networking or security workloads.

How is the DL320e Gen8 v2 different from the DL320e Gen8?
They are separate platforms with their own QuickSpecs and their own parts pages. The v2 runs Intel Xeon E3-1200 v3, Core i3-4100 and Pentium G3200 series processors on the C222 chipset in a 4 SFF or 2 LFF chassis, while the original uses an earlier chipset and drive cage. Check the badge before ordering.

How much memory does the DL320e Gen8 v2 take?
Thirty-two gigabytes, quoted as 4 x 8GB at 1600MHz across four DIMM slots. It is unbuffered ECC DDR3 only - the QuickSpecs state there is no support for RDIMMs or non-ECC UDIMMs.

How many drives fit in a DL320e Gen8 v2?
Four SFF hot-plug drives, or two LFF drives in a hot-plug or non-hot-plug cage. No drives ship standard on Base or Performance models, and HPE states the LFF and SFF versions are not upgradeable from one to the other.

Does the DL320e Gen8 v2 have redundant power supplies?
No. The QuickSpecs list a 250W non-hot-plug, non-redundant power supply as the default for this server in all regions, and the cooling is likewise non-redundant. A 750W Common Slot 48V DC supply is documented for NEBS compliance, but only on the 4 SFF configuration and only as a factory-integration item.

Does a DL320e Gen8 v2 ship with rails?
No. Every pre-configured model carries the same note: no rail kits are included and they must be ordered separately. The QuickSpecs list the 1U Friction Rail Kit and the 1U Short Friction Rail Kit.
