DL325 Gen10 at a glance

Processors

One AMD EPYC processor (single socket). HPE's version 26 lists EPYC 7xx2 models, such as the 7262, 7302P and 7402P, as factory-installed (FIO) kits that each ship with a Standard or High Performance heat sink. Its notes also name the EPYC 7251, whose last digit is 1, so the DDR4-2933 kits are not for it.

Memory

16 DIMM slots on 8 channels. DDR4-2933 kits, which HPE supports only with EPYC 7xx2 processors; the list also keeps DDR4-2666 kits from earlier editions.

With a 7xx2 processor: up to 2TB with 128GB LRDIMMs in all 16 slots, 1TB with 64GB RDIMMs. The DDR4-2933 kits run at 2666 MT/s with two DIMMs per channel. RDIMMs and LRDIMMs do not mix, and x4 and x8 kits do not mix. DL325 Gen10 Memory

Drives

Up to 10 SFF drives in the 8SFF model (8 front plus 2 in the media bay, with the 2SFF SAS/SATA or 2SFF NVMe Enablement Kit, one or the other), up to 10 NVMe drives in the NVMe SFF model, or 4 LFF drives in the 4LFF model, which takes neither 2SFF kit. Storage controllers

Embedded S100i software RAID, UEFI mode and Windows only, off until enabled, for up to 4 devices on the 4LFF chassis or the 2SFF SAS/SATA kit; the embedded SATA controller alone runs AHCI only. Smart Array E208, P408 and P816i-a controllers; performance RAID controllers need the Smart Storage Battery (P01366-B21), and a modular Smart Array rules out the secondary riser. Before you order memory, check the processor model. HPE supports the DDR4-2933 kits only with EPYC 7xx2 processors, whose last digit is 2, such as the 7302P and 7402P. A processor with another last digit, such as the EPYC 7251 named in HPE's notes, is not one of them. The list's DDR4-2666 kits come from earlier editions, and version 26 does not say which processors take them. A DL325 Gen10 Plus, or a Gen10 Plus v2 with a 7232P, 7302P or 7402P, also runs 7xx2 processors but takes DDR4-3200 kits, which HPE does not list for the DL325 Gen10. Gen10, Gen10 Plus or Gen10 Plus v2? How to tell

The last digit of the processor model gives its EPYC series, but 7xx2 processors are listed for all three servers, so check the memory as well: DDR4-2933 kits for the Gen10, DDR4-3200 for both Gen10 Plus models. A 7xx3 processor means a Gen10 Plus v2.

How much memory does the DL325 Gen10 support?

Up to 2TB with an EPYC 7xx2 processor: 128GB DDR4-2933 LRDIMMs in all 16 slots. With 64GB registered DIMMs the maximum is 1TB. HPE supports the DDR4-2933 kits only with EPYC 7xx2 processors; they run at 2933 MT/s with one DIMM per channel and 2666 MT/s with two. RDIMMs and LRDIMMs do not mix, and x4 and x8 kits do not mix.

Which drives fit the DL325 Gen10?

SFF SC drives in SAS or SATA, SFF SCN or SFF SC U.3 NVMe drives, LFF SAS or SATA drives in the 4LFF model, SATA M.2 SSDs on the Universal SATA M.2 kit, and NVMe add-in-card SSDs. The model decides whether the front SFF bays are SAS/SATA or NVMe, and the controller decides SAS or SATA.

How do I tell which processor my DL325 Gen10 has?

Read the processor model in iLO under System Information › Processors. Every processor in HPE's version 26 table is an EPYC 7xx2 model, whose last digit is 2, such as the 7302P or 7402P, and HPE supports the DDR4-2933 kits only with them. A memory note also names the EPYC 7251, whose last digit is 1; the DDR4-2933 kits are not for it.

Is my server a DL325 Gen10, a Gen10 Plus or a Gen10 Plus v2?

Check the memory as well as the processor. The Gen10 takes DDR4-2933 kits; the Gen10 Plus and Gen10 Plus v2 take the same DDR4-3200 kits. EPYC 7xx2 processors such as the 7302P are listed for all three, while a 7xx3 processor (such as the 7313P or 7443P) means a Gen10 Plus v2. The Gen10 has a FlexibleLOM slot; the two Gen10 Plus models have an OCP 3.0 slot. All three have 16 DIMM slots, so the slot count does not tell them apart.
