Genuine HPE hot-plug drives for the HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 Plus v2, new and refurbished and tested before shipping. This generation moved to Basic Carrier (BC) trays, and the backplane you own decides everything: 8SFF SAS/SATA, 8SFF NVMe U.3, or 8SFF NVMe U.2 — each expandable to 10 bays — or a 4LFF cage. LFF and SFF cannot be mixed.

Check the backplane before you buy. An 8SFF U.3 backplane without a tri-mode controller accepts NVMe U.3 drives only — add one and the same backplane takes SAS, SATA, and NVMe U.3. The U.2 and U.3 kits do not cross, and both NVMe backplanes require the Max Performance Fan Kit.

The U.2 and U.3 paths do not cross: the 2SFF U.2 enablement kit cannot be ordered alongside the 8SFF U.3 backplane, and adding the 2SFF U.3 kit to an 8SFF U.2 backplane leaves those two bays carrying SAS and SATA only. Our guide to U.2 versus U.3 explains the difference.

How many drives fit in a DL325 Gen10 Plus v2?
Up to 10 SFF drives - an 8SFF backplane plus the optional 2SFF enablement kit - or 4 LFF drives. Mixing LFF and SFF backplanes or drive cages is not supported.
Does the DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 take U.2 or U.3 NVMe drives?
Both, but not on the same backplane family. There are separate 8SFF U.3 and 8SFF U.2 backplane kits, and the 2SFF U.2 enablement kit cannot be ordered with the 8SFF U.3 backplane.
Can I put SAS or SATA drives in the 8SFF U.3 backplane?
Only with a tri-mode controller. The QuickSpecs states that the 8SFF U.3 backplane with a tri-mode controller accepts SAS, SATA, and NVMe U.3 drives, but without one it accepts NVMe U.3 drives only.
What is the maximum storage capacity of the DL325 Gen10 Plus v2?
153.6TB using 10 x 15.36TB U.3 NVMe SSDs, or 153TB using 10 x 15.3TB SAS SSDs. On the 4LFF chassis the maximum is 80TB from 4 x 20TB SAS or SATA spindles.
Do drives from an older ProLiant fit the DL325 Gen10 Plus v2?
Check the carrier first. Every SFF drive listed for this server is a Basic Carrier part, and the QuickSpecs flags new Basic Carrier drives as a change for this generation.
Do the NVMe backplanes need a different fan kit?
Yes. Both NVMe backplanes require the DL325 Gen10 Plus v2 Max Performance Fan Kit, while the 8SFF SAS/SATA and 4LFF backplanes use the Standard Fan Kit. The two fan kits cannot be selected together.
