HPE ProLiant DL180 Gen10 Parts

The HPE ProLiant DL180 Gen10 is the storage-dense two-socket 2U rack server built on the Intel C622 chipset, taking 1st and 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors across 16 DDR4 slots and a front end that runs from eight small form factor bays up to twenty-four, or twelve 3.5-inch large form factor bays for bulk capacity. Every part below is genuine HPE, available new and refurbished, and tested for compatibility before it ships. Live pricing for each part number appears in the tables further down this page.

DL180 Gen10 Platform at a Glance

  • Processors: up to two Intel Xeon Scalable processors, 1st or 2nd Generation, in Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze grades; HPE does not support a field upgrade from a 1st generation part to a 2nd generation one
  • Memory: 16 DDR4 slots — eight per processor, six channels per processor, two channels at two DIMMs each and four at one — reaching 1.0TB on sixteen 64GB modules at 2933 MT/s
  • Drive bays: 8 SFF upgradeable to 24 SFF through additional cages, 8 LFF upgradeable to 12, or a 12 LFF front end, with an optional dual SFF rear drive kit on the SFF builds
  • Maximum internal storage: 144TB on twelve 12TB LFF drives, 62.4TB on twenty-six 2.4TB SFF SAS drives, and 200TB on twenty-six 7.68TB SFF solid state drives
  • Storage controller: embedded HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 software RAID across 14 SATA ports, with Smart Array E208, P408 and P816 SR Gen10 controllers above it
  • Networking: a 2-port 1GbE embedded network controller, with a FlexibleLOM connector on one riser option and standard PCIe adapters in the rest
  • Expansion: PCI Express 3.0 throughout, 48 lanes per processor; a primary riser is required and the secondary riser needs the second processor installed
  • Power and cooling: HPE Flex Slot hot-plug power supplies from 500W to 1600W in Platinum and Titanium grades, with three to six single rotor hot-swap fans depending on processor count and redundancy
  • Management: HPE iLO 5 with a dedicated 1Gb management port and a front iLO Service Port, Intelligent Provisioning, UEFI with a Legacy BIOS option, and a Micro SD slot

Two things decide most DL180 Gen10 orders: the front end and the processor generation. HPE built this chassis as 8 SFF growing to 24, 8 LFF growing to 12, or 12 LFF — and twelve large drives reach 144TB where twenty-six small ones stop at 62.4TB. On the processor side, x1xx and x2xx parts cannot be swapped in the field, and the generation also decides which DDR4 kits are legal in the server.

DL180 Gen10 Parts FAQ

What processors does the DL180 Gen10 support?
Up to two Intel Xeon Scalable processors, 1st or 2nd Generation, in Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze grades on the Intel C622 chipset. Mixing two different processor models is not supported, and HPE does not support a field upgrade from a 1st generation part to a 2nd generation one.

How much memory can a DL180 Gen10 take?
1.0TB, on sixteen 64GB modules at 2933 MT/s. The server has 16 DDR4 slots, eight per processor across six channels, and with one processor installed only half of them are available.

How many drives does a DL180 Gen10 hold?
It depends on the chassis. HPE built this server as 8 SFF upgradeable to 24 SFF with additional cages, 8 LFF upgradeable to 12, or 12 LFF, and an optional dual rear drive kit adds two more 2.5-inch bays to an SFF build.

What is the maximum internal storage of a DL180 Gen10?
144TB on twelve 12TB LFF hard drives, in SAS or SATA. The SFF chassis reaches 62.4TB on hard drives and 200TB on 7.68TB solid state drives.

Which storage controller is built into the DL180 Gen10?
An embedded HPE Smart Array S100i SR Gen10 software RAID across 14 SATA ports. It ships switched off and has to be enabled during configuration, and it operates in UEFI mode only.

How many network ports does a DL180 Gen10 have as standard?
Two. The server ships with a 2-port 1GbE embedded network controller, and a 1Gb dedicated iLO management port is separate from those two.
