Identify your 2SFF backplane before ordering NVMe. The U.3 and U.2 Premium backplane kits cannot be mixed, and both require the High Performance Fan Kit. SR100i software RAID supports NVMe only in the U.3 kit — the notes state it does not support U.2 drives.

Every row is printed as an 8+2 configuration, so the optional 2SFF cage is part of each figure. That cage also decides what NVMe fits: the U.3 and U.2 Premium kits cannot be mixed, and a 2SFF cage needs an 8SFF cage.
Choosing the Right DL365 Gen10 Plus Drives
- Match the drive to the backplane you own. The 2SFF U.3 and U.2 Premium kits cannot be mixed, and both require the High Performance Fan Kit.
- SR100i software RAID is particular. The notes state NVMe under SR100i SW RAID is supported only in the U.3 Premium kit, and not on U.2 drives.
- Read the SAS speed on the part, not the banner. The groups titled 12G SAS each list SAS 24G drives alongside SAS 12G ones.

- Plan cooling with the flash. The system fan notes require performance fan kits when the drive is NVMe or SAS4.

How many drives fit in a DL365 Gen10 Plus?
Eight SAS/SATA/NVMe SFF bays as standard. The front-view notes list an optional 2SFF cage for a total maximum of 10 SFF, and the 8 SFF chassis table lists rear drive cages as not available.
Does the HPE ProLiant DL365 Gen10 Plus support 3.5-inch LFF drives?
No. The chassis type is 8 SFF with optional optical drive kit and optional SFF or NVMe drive bay options, and no LFF drive, cage, or backplane appears anywhere in the DL365 Gen10 Plus QuickSpecs.
What is the difference between the U.3 and U.2 backplane kits?
They are the two 2SFF Premium backplane options, and the notes state U.3 and U.2 backplane kits cannot be mixed. The notes also state that NVMe drives set up with SR100i software RAID are supported only in the U.3 kit, and that SR100i NVMe SW RAID does not support U.2 drives.
What drive carrier does the DL365 Gen10 Plus use?
The 2.5-inch Basic Carrier (BC). Every hot-plug SFF drive listed for this server is a BC part, and the What's New section calls out new Basic Carrier SAS/SATA/NVMe drives.
What's the difference between Read Intensive and Mixed Use SSDs?
Endurance. Read Intensive drives suit read-heavy serving and cost less per TB; Mixed Use drives suit write-heavy databases and virtualization. The DL365 Gen10 Plus lists both classes in SAS, SATA, and NVMe. Never mix classes within one array.
Do NVMe drives change which fan kit I need?
Yes. The system fan notes state that performance fan kits are required when the drive is NVMe or SAS4, and both 2SFF Premium backplane kits require the High Performance Fan Kit.
