DL345 Gen10 Plus Drive Specifications
- Chassis front ends: 8 SFF, 24 SFF, or 8 LFF and 12 LFF on SAS/SATA — mixing LFF and SFF drive cages is not allowed
- Cage kits: 8SFF SAS/SATA, 8SFF x4 and x1 Tri-Mode 24G U.3 BC, 8SFF x4 NVMe 16G U.2 BC, and the 2SFF U.3 BC front/rear backplane
- Interfaces and carriers: SAS 24G and 12G, SATA 6G, NVMe Gen4 U.3 and U.2 — SFF on the Basic Carrier (BC), LFF on the Low Profile (LP) carrier
- Maximum internal storage, as printed: 399.36 TB from 24+2 × 15.36 TB SFF SAS SSDs, the same from 24+2 × 15.36 TB NVMe U.3, and 240 TB from 12 × 20 TB LFF spindles
- Endurance: Read Intensive and Mixed Use, with Self-Encrypting FIPS options in SAS, SATA, and NVMe
Identify your cage before you order drives. A U.3 tri-mode cage with a tri-mode controller takes SAS, SATA, and NVMe U.3; the same cage without one takes NVMe U.3 only; and the x4 NVMe U.2 cage takes NVMe U.2 and U.3 only. Mixing LFF and SFF drive cages is not allowed.

- Never mix interfaces or endurance classes within one RAID array — build arrays from identical drives.

How many drives fit in a DL345 Gen10 Plus?
Up to 26 SFF - the 24 SFF chassis takes 24 in front and adds a 2 SFF rear drive bay option. On the LFF side, the 8 LFF chassis is upgradeable to 12 LFF in front plus 2 SFF in the rear.
Does the HPE ProLiant DL345 Gen10 Plus support NVMe drives?
Yes. It offers 8SFF x4 and x1 Tri-Mode 24G U.3 Basic Carrier cages and an 8SFF x4 NVMe 16G U.2 cage, plus a 2SFF U.3 rear backplane. When no tri-mode controller is fitted, NVMe direct attach is used to support the U.3 drives.
Can I put SAS or SATA drives in a DL345 Gen10 Plus NVMe cage?
Only in a U.3 tri-mode cage paired with a tri-mode controller - that combination supports SAS, SATA, and NVMe U.3 drives. A U.3 cage without a tri-mode controller takes NVMe U.3 only, and the x4 NVMe U.2 cage takes NVMe U.2 and U.3 only.
Can I mix LFF and SFF drive cages in one DL345 Gen10 Plus?
No. The drive cage notes state that mixing LFF and SFF drive cages is not allowed. Pick the chassis family first, then build within it.
What is the largest drive the DL345 Gen10 Plus takes?
