How many network adapters can a DL385 Gen10 Plus v2 take?

The DL385 Gen10 Plus v2 takes network adapters in its one OCP 3.0 slot and in up to eight PCIe 4.0 slots on three risers, of which slots 4 to 8 need the second processor. Three PCIe slots (x8, x16, x8) as standard in the primary riser, up to eight with two processors. Only SFF OCP adapters below 35W are supported.

Does the DL385 Gen10 Plus v2 have network ports built in?

No embedded network ports; the network controller is an OCP or a stand-up card. Pre-configured models ship with a Broadcom BCM57416 10GbE 2-port BASE-T OCP3 adapter, plus a choice of stand-up card.

Are cables or transceivers included?

DAC cables or fiber transceivers and cables are bought separately. HPE: “Direct Attach Cable (DAC) for copper environments or fiber transceivers and cables for fiber-optic environments must be purchased separately.” (page 44).

Do I need the second processor for more adapters?

Slots 4 to 8 need the second processor. Slots 1 to 3 run from processor 1. HPE: “Slots 4-6 top to bottom, not shown, requires second riser card, and second processor. Optional 2 SFF rear drives.” (page 2).
