The HPE ProLiant DL380 G5 (Generation 5) server comes standard with 2GB and supports up to 64GB of PC2-5300 (DDR2-667) memory. The HPE ProLiant DL380 G5 (Generation 5) server can support up to eight (8) 2.5" SFF (small form factor) hot plug hard drives.
You can use either SAS or SATA drives in the DL380 G5. Most customers opt for Enterprise SAS drives due to the superior performance - faster data transfer rates and spindle speeds. NOTE: The components of a storage subsystem (e.g. the drive, the HBA/controller, firmware, and the server backplane) should operate at the same data transfer rate or the system bandwidth will be negotiated down to an acceptable level for all components.
