HPE ProLiant DL345 Gen11 Memory
The DL345 Gen11 has 12 DIMM slots, one per memory channel on its single processor, and takes HPE DDR5 EC8 registered memory (RDIMMs). Which kit you need depends on the processor: 4th Gen AMD EPYC (9004 series) processors use DDR5-4800 kits; 5th Gen AMD EPYC (9005 series) processors use DDR5-6400 kits. The server supports up to 3TB with 256GB in every slot, within HPE's cooling limits for 256GB DIMMs.

Specifications match the HPE ProLiant DL345 Gen11 QuickSpecs. One DIMM per channel; LRDIMM, UDIMM, non-ECC and DDR4 are not supported.
How processor, kit and channels fit together
Each EPYC processor has 12 memory channels and one slot per channel, so there is no second-slot speed penalty: the kit runs at its rating on any processor rated for it. Bandwidth scales with the number of channels you populate, which is why 12 identical DIMMs per processor is the configuration AMD and HPE recommend.

The speed the server delivers is the lowest of the processor rating and the slowest installed DIMM.
Three rules that avoid a return
1 Match the kit to the processor
DDR5-6400 kits are listed for 5th Gen (9005) processors and DDR5-4800 kits for 4th Gen (9004). If you are adding to memory that is already installed, match the part number on the existing DIMM label.
2 Do not mix x4 and x8, or 3DS and non-3DS
HPE does not support mixing x4 and x8 DIMMs, or 3DS with non-3DS DIMMs. Keep every DIMM in a bank the same.
3 Fill channels for bandwidth
With one slot per channel, every DIMM you add opens another channel. Twelve matching DIMMs give the most bandwidth; HPE qualifies 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 DIMMs, and the picker uses those counts. 256GB DIMMs need the performance fan kit and rule out the mid-tray drive cages.

How much memory does the HPE ProLiant DL345 Gen11 support?
Up to 3TB: 12 slots with 256GB DDR5 RDIMMs in every one; HPE notes that every listed processor supports 3TB. Its cooling table allows 256GB DIMMs only with the performance fan kit and not with a 4LFF or 8SFF mid tray, and its DDR5-4800 option list stops at 128GB, so the 3TB figure is reached with the DDR5-6400 256GB kit on a 5th Gen processor.
What type of memory does the DL345 Gen11 use?
HPE DDR5 EC8 registered DIMMs (RDIMMs): DDR5-4800 kits with 4th Gen AMD EPYC 9004 processors and DDR5-6400 kits with 5th Gen EPYC 9005 processors, in 16GB to 256GB capacities.
How many DIMMs should I install?
Twelve fills every channel and gives the most bandwidth. HPE qualifies 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 DIMMs; the picker above only suggests those counts.
What speed will the memory run at?
The kit rating: 6400 MT/s for DDR5-6400 kits on 9005 processors and 4800 MT/s for DDR5-4800 kits on 9004 processors, because every channel holds one DIMM.
