DL345 Gen11 Memory Specifications

  • Speeds: Up to 4800 MT/s with 4th Gen AMD EPYC™ 9004 (Genoa) and up to 6400 MT/s with 5th Gen AMD EPYC™ 9005 (Turin) processors (speed is processor-dependent).

Before you order, match your memory to your CPU. The DL345 Gen11 runs either 4th Gen AMD EPYC™ 9004 “Genoa” (DDR5-4800) or 5th Gen AMD EPYC™ 9005 “Turin” (DDR5-6400) processors, and your CPU sets the maximum memory speed. Per HPE, faster DIMMs paired with a CPU that supports a lower speed will run at the slower speed, and mixing slower and faster DIMMs forces the entire system to the slowest module. For full performance, buy the speed grade that matches your EPYC generation, and populate all 12 channels for maximum bandwidth.

Memory Population Rules

What type of memory does the HPE DL345 Gen11 use?
DDR5 ECC Registered (RDIMM) memory, with 3DS RDIMM used for the largest (256GB) modules. LRDIMM and unbuffered (UDIMM) memory are not used. The same RDIMM type works with both 4th Gen (Genoa) and 5th Gen (Turin) AMD EPYC CPUs.

How much RAM can the DL345 Gen11 hold?
Up to 3TB, using 12 x 256GB DDR5 RDIMMs. As a single-socket AMD EPYC server, it has 12 memory channels and 12 DIMM slots (one DIMM per channel).

What is the maximum memory speed?
It depends on your processor: 4th Gen AMD EPYC 9004 (Genoa) runs DDR5-4800, and 5th Gen AMD EPYC 9005 (Turin) runs DDR5-6400. For maximum memory bandwidth, populate all 12 channels.

Should I buy DDR5-4800 or DDR5-6400 memory?
Match the speed grade to your CPU generation — DDR5-4800 for a 4th Gen EPYC 9004 (Genoa) server, or DDR5-6400 for a 5th Gen EPYC 9005 (Turin) server. HPE notes that the system runs all memory at the slowest installed speed, so a mismatched DIMM limits the whole server. Both are the same DDR5 ECC Registered (RDIMM) type.
