HPE ProLiant DL160 Gen10 Power Supplies
Genuine HPE Flex Slot power supplies for the HPE ProLiant DL160 Gen10, new and refurbished. Two rules govern every order on this page: mixing two different power supplies is not supported, and a Flex Slot supply needs the HPE DL160/DL180 Gen10 Redundant Power Supply Enablement Kit (866442-B21) present in the chassis.
DL160 Gen10 Power Supply Specifications
- Format: HPE Flex Slot hot-plug supplies, a shared electrical and physical design across ProLiant Gen10 servers, installed tool-lessly
- Outputs on this page: 500W Platinum, 800W Platinum, 800W Titanium, 800W Universal high-voltage AC/DC and 800W −48VDC
- Efficiency: HPE documents the 500W Platinum unit at 94%, and the 800W Platinum unit at 94% and 96%
- Enablement kit: 866442-B21 is required with the selection of a Flex Slot power supply on this chassis
- Input: rated line voltage of 100 to 120 VAC or 200 to 240 VAC, with the 500W unit rated at 500W steady state across that range
- Cords: a 6-foot IEC C-13/C-14 jumper cord (A0K02A) is included with each standard AC power supply option kit
- Cooling: single-rotor hot-plug fans, three with one processor and six with two, with the optional redundant fan kit (866438-B21) adding one more
Mixing two different power supplies is not supported. Both units in one server must match on output, efficiency grade and input type, so the label on the supply already fitted is the specification for the second. A Flex Slot supply also needs the HPE DL160/DL180 Gen10 Redundant Power Supply Enablement Kit, 866442-B21, present in the chassis.
Which Flex Slot Supply Does Your Configuration Need?
| Supply | Efficiency | What it suits |
|---|---|---|
| 500W Flex Slot Platinum | Documented at 94% | One processor, a modest drive count and few PCIe cards — the supply HPE shipped with several factory models |
| 800W Flex Slot Platinum | Documented at 94% and 96% | Two processors with a full drive cage and cards in the slots |
| 800W Flex Slot Titanium | Titanium grade | The same loads where the higher efficiency grade is wanted |
| 800W Universal AC/DC and 800W −48VDC | Not rated in the same grades | Racks fed by high-voltage AC/DC or by −48V DC rectifiers |
Because two supplies in one server have to be identical, the unit already in the chassis is the specification for the second, and its label settles output, grade and input type in one glance. Sizing from scratch is the rarer job: a 1U server with one processor, four large drives and no cards is a different power budget from two 150W processors, ten small drives and three cards.
Choosing the Right DL160 Gen10 Power Supply
- Read the label on the installed supply before ordering. Mixing two different power supplies is not supported, so matching what is fitted is a requirement rather than a preference.
- Redundancy needs the enablement kit as well as the supply. 866442-B21 is what lets the chassis carry a Flex Slot supply, and it is a separate part from the supply itself.
- Platinum and Titanium are not interchangeable. Two 800W units are still a mismatch when the efficiency grades differ.
- The DC and high-voltage units belong to specific feeds. The −48VDC and Universal AC/DC supplies are for racks built that way, not alternatives on a standard AC circuit.
- Size to the configuration, not to the chassis. Processor wattage on this platform runs from 85W parts to 150W parts, and the fan count doubles with the second processor.
Complete Your DL160 Gen10 Build
Power draw follows the processor wattage and the drive count, so read DL160 Gen10 processors and drives before sizing a supply. DL160 Gen10 Power Supplies FAQ
Can I mix power supplies in a DL160 Gen10?
No. HPE states that mixing two different power supplies is not supported. Both units must be the same output, the same efficiency grade and the same input type.
What do I need to add a second power supply?
The HPE DL160/DL180 Gen10 Redundant Power Supply Enablement Kit, 866442-B21. HPE lists it as required with the selection of a Flex Slot power supply on this chassis.
What wattage power supply does a DL160 Gen10 need?
It depends on the configuration. HPE shipped several factory models with the 500W Platinum unit; the 800W units cover two processors, a full drive cage and cards in the slots.
How efficient are the DL160 Gen10 power supplies?
HPE documents the 500W Flex Slot Platinum unit at 94% efficiency, and the 800W Flex Slot Platinum unit at 94% and 96%. A Titanium-grade 800W unit is also listed.
What is the minus 48VDC power supply for?
Racks fed by DC rectifiers rather than an AC circuit, as found in some telecommunications environments. It is not interchangeable with the AC units.
How many fans does a DL160 Gen10 have?
Three single-rotor hot-plug fans with one processor and six with two. The optional redundant fan kit, 866438-B21, adds one more fan in either case.
