HPE ProLiant DL380 G5 Memory
The DL380 G5 has 8 DIMM slots and takes HPE PC2-5300 (DDR2-667) fully buffered DIMMs, sold as matched pairs. Every kit on this page fits every DL380 G5, so the only decision is how much memory you want. Maximum is 64GB with 8GB DIMMs in all eight slots (four 16GB kits).

How the pairs fit together
FB-DIMMs are installed in matched pairs, one DIMM in each of two paired slots. Each kit on this page is one pair, so a 16GB kit is two 8GB DIMMs and fills two slots. All FB-DIMMs on this server run at DDR2-667; there is no speed to match.

Low-power kits (LP) are the same capacity and speed and use less power. HPE requires the two DIMMs of a pair to match, and identical DIMMs across pairs for interleaving, so keep to one kit type when you add memory. HPE: the memory runs at 667 MHz with a 1333 MHz front-side bus and 533 MHz with a 1066 or 667 MHz bus.
Three rules that avoid a return
1 Install in pairs
Each kit is a matched pair. Install both DIMMs of a pair in the paired slots marked on the system board, and keep both DIMMs of a pair identical.
2 Match what is already installed
Adding to existing memory? Read the HP part number on the DIMM label and buy the same kit, or at least the same capacity, so the pairs stay matched.
3 Fully buffered only
This server takes FB-DIMMs (PC2-5300F). Registered or unbuffered DDR2 from other servers will not fit the slots.
