HPE ProLiant ML110 Gen11 Memory
The ML110 Gen11 has 16 DIMM slots, all on its one processor, and takes HPE DDR5 EC8 registered memory (RDIMMs). Which kit you need depends on the processor: 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors use DDR5-4800 kits; 5th Gen processors use DDR5-5600 kits. HPE rates the server at up to 1.5TB with 96GB DDR5-5600 DIMMs in all 16 slots on a 5th Gen processor, or 1TB with 64GB DDR5-4800 DIMMs on a 4th Gen processor.

How processor, kit and speed fit together
Each processor has 8 memory channels with 2 slots per channel. One DIMM in every channel runs the kit at its full rating; filling the second slot doubles capacity and steps the speed down.

Silver and some Gold processors are rated below the kit speed and run the memory at their own rating. The speed the server delivers is the lowest of the processor rating, the population and the slowest installed DIMM. HPE qualifies 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 or 16 DIMMs per processor; the picker uses those counts.
Three rules that avoid a return
1 Match the kit to the processor
DDR5-5600 kits are listed for 5th Gen processors and DDR5-4800 kits for 4th Gen. If you are adding to memory that is already installed, match the part number on the existing DIMM label and you cannot go wrong.
2 Do not mix x4 and x8, or 3DS and non-3DS
HPE does not support mixing x4 and x8 DIMMs, or 3DS with non-3DS DIMMs, and the 96GB kit cannot be mixed with any other capacity. Keep every DIMM in a bank the same, and fill the channels in the order printed on the system board.
3 Buy -B21, not -F21
Both suffixes describe the same module, but -F21 is sold only inside a factory-built server. The -B21 kits on this page are the ones you can buy and install yourself.
ML110 Gen11 memory questions
How much memory does the HPE ProLiant ML110 Gen11 support?
Up to 1.5TB: 16 slots with 96GB DDR5-5600 RDIMMs in every one, on a 5th Gen processor (HPE prints the figure at 4400 MT/s, two DIMMs per channel). With a 4th Gen processor and DDR5-4800 kits the maximum is 1TB (16 x 64GB). The 96GB kit is not supported with the Silver 4510, 4509Y or Bronze 3508U.
What type of memory does the ML110 Gen11 use?
HPE DDR5 EC8 registered DIMMs (RDIMMs): DDR5-4800 kits with 4th Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors and DDR5-5600 kits with 5th Gen, in 16GB to 96GB capacities. LRDIMM, UDIMM, non-ECC and DDR4 memory are not supported.
Can I use DDR5-4800 kits with a 5th Gen processor?
Buy the family HPE lists for your processor generation, and never mix the two families in one server. If the server already has memory installed, add the same part number.
What speed will the memory run at?
5600 MT/s (DDR5-5600 kits) or 4800 MT/s (DDR5-4800 kits) with one DIMM per channel, up to 8 per processor. HPE prints 4400 MT/s with two DIMMs per channel for both families; the one-DIMM-per-channel figure comes from HPE's memory speed table for the processor. Processors rated below the kit speed run the memory at their own rating.
Are there special rules for the 96GB kit?
Yes. The 96GB kit cannot be mixed with any other capacity, is listed for 5th Gen processors only and not with the Silver 4510, 4509Y or Bronze 3508U, and limits the inlet temperature to 25°C. Check the server's current population against these rules before ordering 96GB DIMMs for a server that is already built.
