HPE ProLiant ML110 Gen11 Memory
Genuine HPE DDR5 Smart Memory for the HPE ProLiant ML110 Gen11, new and refurbished, tested for compatibility before shipping. This tower has a full-size memory system for a single socket: 16 DIMM slots on 8 channels, with a maximum of 1.5TB. The one rule that decides everything else is the processor generation, because HPE lists a DDR5-4800 kit family for Fourth Generation Xeon Scalable processors and a DDR5-5600 family for Fifth.
ML110 Gen11 Memory Specifications
- Type: HPE DDR5 Smart Memory, Registered (RDIMM), EC8, with Advanced ECC memory protection
- Slots: 16 DIMM slots — 8 channels per processor, 2 DIMMs per channel, all on the single processor
- Fourth Generation kits: 16GB single rank x8, 32GB dual rank x8 and 64GB dual rank x4, DDR5-4800 CAS-40-39-39 EC8 Registered Smart Memory
- Fifth Generation kits: 16GB single rank x8, 32GB dual rank x8, 64GB dual rank x4 and 96GB dual rank x4, DDR5-5600 CAS-46-45-45 EC8 Registered Smart Memory
- Maximum, per HPE: 1.5TB as 16 × 96GB DDR5-5600 at 4400 MT/s at two DIMMs per channel with Fifth Generation processors; 1.0TB as 16 × 64GB DDR5-4800 at 4400 MT/s at two DIMMs per channel with Fourth Generation processors
- Speed: each processor kit states its own ceiling of 4000, 4400 or 4800 MT/s; HPE states the actual speed is a function of memory type, configuration and processor model
- Population: the DIMM count per socket must be 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 or 16, per HPE
- 96GB restrictions: the 96GB DDR5-5600 DIMM is not supported with the Silver 4510, Silver 4509Y and Bronze 3508U processors, and HPE limits it to a 25°C maximum inlet temperature with fans that may run faster
- Ordering: the -B21 kits sold here are the stand-alone memory SKUs; HPE's -F21 variants are for factory-integrated servers only
Match the memory family to the processor generation. HPE lists DDR5-4800 kits for Fourth Generation Xeon Scalable processors and DDR5-5600 kits for Fifth Generation, and both maximums — 1.0TB and 1.5TB — run at 4400 MT/s with two DIMMs per channel. The 96GB DDR5-5600 kit is not supported with the Silver 4510, Silver 4509Y or Bronze 3508U and is limited to a 25°C inlet, so with those processors the ceiling is 1.0TB.
How much memory can the ML110 Gen11 hold?
| Configuration | Total capacity | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 8 × 16GB RDIMM | 128GB | One DIMM in every channel; the smallest full-channel fill in either kit family |
| 8 × 32GB RDIMM | 256GB | One DIMM per channel at the processor's rated speed; leaves 8 slots for a second round |
| 8 × 64GB RDIMM | 512GB | One DIMM per channel; the largest single-fill in the DDR5-4800 family |
| 16 × 64GB RDIMM | 1.0TB | Two DIMMs per channel; HPE's stated maximum with Fourth Generation processors, at 4400 MT/s |
| 16 × 96GB RDIMM | 1.5TB | Two DIMMs per channel; HPE's stated maximum with Fifth Generation processors, at 4400 MT/s, not with the 4510, 4509Y or 3508U |
Eight channels means eight DIMMs is where the memory system runs at full width, and HPE's two maximum figures both put the speed at 4400 MT/s once a second DIMM is added to each channel. So the practical trade is the usual one: eight larger modules keep the processor's rated speed where it supports 4800, sixteen modules reach the capacity ceiling at 4400. On a single-socket server the sweet spot is eight modules of the largest capacity the budget allows, with the second bank kept for later.
Choosing the Right ML110 Gen11 Memory
- Match the kit family to the processor generation. HPE states the 5600 DIMMs are for Fifth Generation Xeon Scalable processors and the 4800 DIMMs are for Fourth Generation. Check the processor before choosing the kit.
- Fill in multiples HPE allows. 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 or 16 DIMMs per socket. Eight is the full-channel fill; sixteen is the maximum.
- Read the processor's speed ceiling. Several listed processors cap memory at 4400 or 4000 MT/s regardless of the DIMM; the Gold 6426Y and the Fifth Generation Gold 5512U and 5515+ are the ones HPE lists at 4800.
- Treat the 96GB kit as conditional. Not supported with the 4510, 4509Y or 3508U, and limited to 25°C inlet. For those processors the ceiling is 1.0TB as 16 × 64GB.
- Stand-alone SKUs end in -B21. A -F21 part number on a quote is HPE's factory-integration twin of the same kit.

ML110 Gen11 Memory FAQ
How much RAM does the ML110 Gen11 support?
1.5TB, as 16 x 96GB DDR5-5600 RDIMMs with a Fifth Generation Xeon Scalable processor, or 1.0TB as 16 x 64GB DDR5-4800 RDIMMs with a Fourth Generation processor. HPE states both maximums run at 4400 MT/s with two DIMMs per channel.
What type of memory does the ML110 Gen11 use?
HPE DDR5 Smart Memory, Registered (RDIMM), EC8. HPE lists two families: DDR5-4800 CAS-40 kits at 16GB, 32GB and 64GB for Fourth Generation processors, and DDR5-5600 CAS-46 kits at 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 96GB for Fifth Generation processors.
Can I use DDR5-5600 memory with a Fourth Generation processor in the ML110 Gen11?
HPE's document ties the 5600 DIMMs to Fifth Generation processors and the 4800 DIMMs to Fourth Generation, and lists no other pairing. Match the kit family to the processor generation installed.
How many DIMMs can I install in an ML110 Gen11?
1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 12 or 16, per HPE's population rule for this server. Eight DIMMs fills every channel once; sixteen fills every channel twice and is the maximum.
Why is the 96GB DIMM not supported with some ML110 Gen11 processors?
HPE states the 96GB DDR5-5600 DIMM is not supported with the Silver 4510, Silver 4509Y and Bronze 3508U processors, and that it is limited to a 25 C maximum inlet temperature with fans that may run faster. With those three processors the ceiling is 1.0TB as 16 x 64GB.
What is the difference between the -B21 and -F21 memory part numbers?
The same module ordered two ways. HPE states the -B21 SKUs are for stand-alone memory orders and the -F21 SKUs are used when configuring a server with factory-integrated DIMMs. The kits sold here are the -B21 stand-alone parts.
