Two questions settle most DL580 G7 orders: which processor family, and how many memory cartridges are in the drawer. Xeon E7 series parts reach 2TB of memory and are supported only in the (E7) configure-to-order server; Xeon 7500 series parts stop at 1TB. And because each processor is wired to two of the eight cartridge slots, a four-socket machine with four cartridges is running half its 64 DIMM slots.
