- Buy the cooling with the CPU. Processors ship without either, and each group's notes name the pair it requires.
- Read the fan rule twice for a single low-wattage CPU. The note on the 120W, 130W, and 155W group calls for the Standard Fan Kit (P37861-B21). The Cooling Options note on the Base Standard Fan Kit (P44887-B21) says that kit must be selected for one processor at or below 155W.
- 280W parts have their own heat sink. The Max Performance Heat Sink Kit must be selected for processors equal to or greater than 280W.
- The second processor buys more than cores. The base-configuration note states 32 DIMM slots require two processors, and the expansion table marks slot 3 and the secondary riser as processor 2.
