HPE ProLiant DL360e Gen8 Power Supplies
Genuine HPE Common Slot power supplies for the HPE ProLiant DL360e Gen8, new and refurbished. The 1U chassis has two hot-plug supply bays for optional 1+1 or n+n redundancy, and the rule attached to them is absolute: all power supplies inside a server must be exactly the same model.
DL360e Gen8 Power Supply Specifications
- Option kits listed: 750W CS Titanium; 460W, 750W and 1200W CS Platinum Plus; 460W and 750W CS Gold; and a 750W CS -48VDC
- Efficiency: up to 96% on Titanium, 94% on Platinum Plus, up to 92% on Gold and -48VDC; Power Discovery Services need one of the first two
- Rated steady-state output per supply: HPE quotes 460W at 100 to 120 VAC and 460W at 200 to 240 VAC, and 750W at both ranges, with peak power at the same figures
- Input: rated line voltage 100–120 VAC and 200–240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz, drawing 4.5 A at 120 VAC down to 2.2 A at 240 VAC on the 460W supply
- Heat: a documented maximum of 1773 BTU/hr at 120 VAC, 1715 at 240 VAC
- Cords: AC kits include the supply and one PDU IEC cable; the -48VDC kit has a terminal block and no cable
Low line costs you nothing, but mixing costs you the server. HPE's technical specifications quote 460W at 100 to 120 VAC and 460W at 200 to 240 VAC, and 750W at both ranges, so a supply on a 120V circuit still makes its rating. The absolute rule is elsewhere: all power supplies inside a server must be exactly the same model, and mixing Gold, Platinum and Platinum Plus supplies is not supported.
What does the DL360e Gen8 power supply deliver?
| Power supply kit | Efficiency | Intelligent Power Discovery | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
| 750W Common Slot Titanium | Up to 96% | Supported | 697581-B21 |
| 460W Common Slot Platinum Plus | 94% | Supported | 656362-B21 |
| 750W Common Slot Platinum Plus | 94% | Supported | 656363-B21 |
| 1200W Common Slot Platinum Plus | 94% | Supported | 656364-B21 |
| 460W and 750W CS Gold, 750W CS -48VDC | Up to 92% | Not stated | 503296-B21, 512327-B21, 636673-B21 |
Low line costs you nothing here, worth knowing before you pay for a 208V drop: HPE quotes 460W at 100 to 120 VAC and 460W at 200 to 240 VAC, and 750W at both ranges. The 1200W kit is orderable but its output is not in this document's table — HPE points to the separate Common Slot QuickSpecs.
Choosing the Right DL360e Gen8 Power Supply
- Never mix. HPE states all supplies inside a server must be exactly the same model, that mixing Gold, Platinum and Platinum Plus is not supported, and that non-matched supplies fail.
- Efficiency is a part number: 96% means Titanium, 94% Platinum Plus, 92% Gold and -48VDC.
- Size to the configuration: the documented maximum is 1773 BTU/hr at 120 VAC, and HPE directs you to the Power Advisor first.
- Check the cord: ProLiant DL servers ship with a 6-foot C14 to C13 PDU cord (A0K02A), so a NEMA 5-15 to C13 cord (AF556A) is a separate order.
- Refurbished supplies are a low-risk buy — tested hot-plug modules, and the usual way to fill the second bay.

DL360e Gen8 Power Supplies FAQ
What power supplies does the HPE ProLiant DL360e Gen8 use?
HP Common Slot hot-plug supplies. This QuickSpecs lists seven kits: a 750W Titanium, 460W, 750W and 1200W Platinum Plus, 460W and 750W Gold, and a 750W -48VDC version.
How many power supplies does a DL360e Gen8 hold?
Two, in hot-plug bays at the rear. Optional 1+1 or n+n redundancy comes from adding a second supply through a power supply option kit, and the configure-to-order chassis ships with no power supply at all.
Does the 750W supply deliver 750W on a 120V circuit?
Yes. HPE quotes rated steady-state power of 460W at 100 to 120 VAC and 460W at 200 to 240 VAC, and 750W at both ranges, with maximum peak power at the same figures. Rated line voltage is 100 to 120 VAC and 200 to 240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
Can I mix power supplies in a DL360e Gen8?
No. HPE states that mixing power supplies in the same server is not supported, that all supplies inside a server must be exactly the same model, and that mixing Gold, Platinum and Platinum Plus supplies is not supported. Non-matched supplies produce errors and fail.
Which DL360e Gen8 power supply supports Intelligent Power Discovery?
The Titanium and Platinum Plus kits. HPE notes the 750W Titanium offers up to 96% efficiency with that support and the Platinum Plus kits 94% with the same, and states Power Discovery Services require one of the two.
Do DL360e Gen8 power supply kits include a power cord?
AC option kits include the power supply and one PDU IEC cable. ProLiant DL servers ship with a 6-foot C14 to C13 PDU cord, so a NEMA 5-15 to C13 cord is ordered separately as AF556A. The -48VDC kit ships with no cable.
