The kit generation follows the processor generation, and the clock follows the processor model — those are two separate things, and confusing them is what sends the wrong part back. A DDR4-2933 kit is the correct part number for a Silver 4210 machine and will still run at 2400 MT/s, because 2400 is what that processor rates. HPE puts it plainly: maximum memory speed is a function of the memory type, the memory configuration and the processor model.
Choosing the Right ML110 Gen10 Memory
- Identify the processor generation before the kit. DDR4-2933 kits pair with second generation x2xx parts and DDR4-2666 kits with first generation x1xx parts, and HPE does not support a field upgrade between the two — so the processor fitted decides the memory family for the life of the server.
- Fill all six channels where the budget allows. Six slots is one per channel, so six matched DIMMs is the only fully balanced configuration this platform has.
- 192GB means 32GB modules. Six 32GB dual-rank RDIMMs is the documented ceiling; nothing larger is qualified for this server.
- Every kit is one DIMM. A 96GB configuration is six 16GB kits, not a single boxed set.
- Do not mix DIMM types. HPE warns that mixing can cause the server to halt during BIOS installation, so a part-populated server dictates what the next module has to be.
