Two things decide most ML350p Gen8 orders: the drive cage and the DDR3 type. The tower ships with one cage of eight SFF or six LFF bays and grows to 24 SFF or 18 LFF across three cages — but SFF and LFF cages cannot be mixed in one server. On memory, Registered, Load Reduced and Unbuffered are distinct technologies that cannot run together, so whichever is fitted today is what an upgrade has to match.

Up to two Intel Xeon E5-2600 or E5-2600 v2 processors, for 4 to 24 cores in total. Mixing different processor models in one server is not supported, so a second CPU has to match the one already fitted.

How much memory can an ML350p Gen8 take?
768GB using 32GB Load Reduced DIMMs, 384GB using 16GB Registered DIMMs, or 128GB using Unbuffered DIMMs. The server has 24 slots, but only 12 are available with a single processor installed.
