HPE ProLiant ML110 Gen10 Memory
The ML110 Gen10 has 6 DIMM slots and takes HPE DDR4 registered memory (RDIMMs). Which kit you need depends on one thing: the processor. 1st Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors use DDR4-2666 kits; 2nd Gen processors use DDR4-2933 kits. Either way, the server supports up to 192GB with six 32GB RDIMMs.

How processor and memory speed fit together
The kit speed is the fastest the DIMM can run. The processor sets the speed it actually runs at, so a Silver 4210 with DDR4-2933 kits runs them at 2400 MT/s and that is normal. Buy the kit family that matches the generation; the processor takes care of the rest.

Three rules that avoid a return
1 Match the kit to the processor
DDR4-2933 kits are listed for 2nd Gen processors and DDR4-2666 kits for 1st Gen. If you are adding to memory that is already installed, match the part number on the existing DIMM label and you cannot go wrong.
2 Use one kit type across all slots
Keep every DIMM the same capacity, rank and speed, and keep to one line: HPE SmartMemory or HPE Standard Memory, not both. Mixing sizes works but is slower.
3 Fill channels for bandwidth
The ML110 Gen10 has one DIMM slot per memory channel, so six matching DIMMs give the most bandwidth. Two or four DIMMs are fine for capacity; populate the slots in the order printed on the system board.

How much memory does the HPE ProLiant ML110 Gen10 support?
Up to 192GB: six DIMM slots with 32GB DDR4 RDIMMs in every slot. The server has a single processor, and all six slots belong to it.
What type of memory does the ML110 Gen10 use?
HPE DDR4 registered DIMMs (RDIMMs). With 1st Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors the kits are DDR4-2666 (815097-B21, 815098-B21, 815100-B21, and the Standard Memory kits 867853-B21 and 867855-B21). With 2nd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors the kits are DDR4-2933 (P00918-B21, P00920-B21, P00922-B21, P00924-B21).
Can I use DDR4-2666 memory with a 2nd Gen processor, or DDR4-2933 with a 1st Gen?
Buy the kit family HPE lists for your processor generation. If the server already has memory installed, add the same part number rather than mixing families; mixed configurations are not supported and the server may not boot.
Will the memory run at 2933 MT/s?
Only with a processor rated for it, such as a Xeon Gold 62xx. Gold 52xx processors run memory at 2666, Silver at 2400 and Bronze at 2133 MT/s. The kit still has to be the DDR4-2933 family; the processor simply clocks it lower.
What is the difference between HPE SmartMemory and HPE Standard Memory?
Both are genuine HPE kits listed for this server. SmartMemory carries HPE's memory authentication and the performance and reliability features that come with it; Standard Memory is the lower-cost line for entry servers. Choose one line and use it in every slot.
Does it matter which slots I use?
Yes. Each slot is its own channel, so spreading DIMMs across the channels in the order marked on the system board gives the best performance. Six identical DIMMs use every channel.
