Choosing the Right BL465c G7 Processor
- A second processor unlocks the other half of the memory. With one CPU installed only eight of the sixteen DIMM slots are available, which is often the real reason to fill the second socket.
- Two sockets means two kits. BL465c G7 processor option kits contain one processor each, with its own heatsink and fans.
- -B21 is the field part. HPE's two-processor configurations pair an -L21 factory-integration kit with a -B21 kit of the same processor, so the -B21 is what goes into a blade already in service.
- Cores or clock, inside one thermal envelope. The 6174 gives twelve cores at 2.2GHz and the 6136 eight at 2.4GHz for the same 115W, so a clock-bound application and a thread-hungry one point in opposite directions.
- Wattage is an enclosure question here. The blade draws from the enclosure's power subsystem, and HPE specifies ten fans in a c7000 or six in a c3000 for this server blade.
