Memory
The HPE ProLiant DL380 G7 (Generation 7) server comes standard with 6GB of Unbuffered memory and can support up to 384GB of Registered memory or 48GB Unbuffered memory (consisting of 12 of the 4GB dual-rank PC3-10600 UDIMMs). Please note that Registered and Unbuffered memory cannot be mixed in the same server.
To achieve the maximum memory configuration, you must use Registered DIMMs (RDIMMs). The DL380G7 supports up to 384GB of Registered memory for dual CPU models (or 192GB for single CPU models). This is accomplished by either six of the 32GB quad-rank PC3L-8500 RDIMM modules for a single CPU server, or 12 of these 32GB modules for dual CPU machines. Global One Technology offers the 384 GB kit to max out the memory on your Dual CPU DL380 G7 server. Also available, the more budget-friendly 192 GB kit for Dual CPU servers. NOTE: This server model can be configured to use either 2.5 inch Small Form Factor (SFF) drives OR 3.5 inch Large Form Factor drives. Please be sure to verify which type your machine is configured to use before placing an order. The SFF models have four slots per vertical column with a maximum of 16 total hard drive slots, while the LFF models have two slots per column.
You can use either SAS or SATA drives in the DL380 G7. Most customers opt for Enterprise SAS drives due to the superior performance - faster data transfer rates and spindle speeds. NOTE: The components of a storage subsystem (e.g. the drive, the HBA/controller, firmware, and the server backplane) should operate at the same data transfer rate or the system bandwidth will be negotiated down to an acceptable level for all components.
