HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 Memory
The DL325 Gen10 has 16 DIMM slots on its one processor, 8 channels with 2 slots each, and takes HPE DDR4 SmartMemory. Which kit you need depends on the processor: AMD EPYC 7001 series processors use DDR4-2666 kits; EPYC 7002 series processors use DDR4-2933 kits. Either way the server supports up to 2TB with 128GB DIMMs in every slot.

Specifications match the HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 QuickSpecs. RDIMMs and LRDIMMs cannot be mixed in the same server.
How processor, kit and speed fit together
The processor has 8 memory channels with 2 slots per channel. One DIMM in every channel runs the kit at its rating; filling the second slot doubles capacity and steps the speed down.

HPE: 2933 MT/s DIMMs are only supported with EPYC 7002 processors and 2666 MT/s DIMMs only with EPYC 7001. HPE's EPYC 7001 kit tables run the dual-rank RDIMMs (16GB dual rank, 32GB and 64GB) at 2400 MT/s with one DIMM per channel, and the single-rank RDIMMs and the LRDIMMs at 2666. The QuickSpecs give no DIMM-count table (they point to HPE's population-rules paper); the picker uses the balanced layouts 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16.
Three rules that avoid a return
1 Match the kit to the processor
DDR4-2933 kits are listed for EPYC 7002 processors and DDR4-2666 kits for EPYC 7001. If you are adding to memory that is already installed, match the part number on the existing DIMM label.
2 RDIMM or LRDIMM, never both
The 8GB to 64GB registered kits and the 64GB and 128GB load-reduced kits cannot share a server, and HPE does not allow mixing x4 and x8 DIMMs. Keep every DIMM in a bank the same.
3 Fill channels for bandwidth
Eight matching DIMMs fill every channel once and give the most bandwidth at full speed. Sixteen DIMMs reach the maximum capacity at the two-per-channel speed. Start with the white slot in each channel.
DL325 Gen10 memory questions
How much memory does the HPE ProLiant DL325 Gen10 support?
Up to 2TB: 16 slots with 128GB DDR4 DIMMs in every one. With 64GB registered DIMMs the maximum is 1TB. HPE notes that every EPYC processor listed supports 2TB.
What type of memory does the DL325 Gen10 use?
HPE DDR4 SmartMemory: DDR4-2666 registered and load-reduced DIMMs with EPYC 7001 processors, DDR4-2933 with EPYC 7002. Registered DIMMs run from 8GB to 64GB; load-reduced DIMMs are 64GB and 128GB.
What speed will the memory run at?
With one DIMM per channel: 2933 MT/s on EPYC 7002 (DDR4-2933 kits). On EPYC 7001 (DDR4-2666 kits) HPE lists the 7601, 7551P and 7501 at 2666 MT/s, the 7251 at 2400, and the 7451, 7401P, 7351P, 7301, 7281, 7261 and 7371 at "2400/2666"; its kit tables run the dual-rank RDIMMs (16GB dual rank, 32GB and 64GB) at 2400 and the single-rank RDIMMs and LRDIMMs at 2666. With two DIMMs per channel the speed drops to 2666 MT/s on 7002 and 2133 MT/s on 7001.
Can I use DDR4-2666 memory with an EPYC 7002 processor?
HPE lists the 2666 kits for EPYC 7001 only and the 2933 kits for EPYC 7002 only. Buy the family listed for your processor; if the server already has memory installed, add the same part number.
