HPE ProLiant BL495c G6 Memory
The BL495c G6 has 16 DIMM slots, 8 per processor in four two-slot banks, and takes HPE DDR2 registered ECC DIMMs installed in identical pairs: PC2-6400 (DDR2-800) kits up to 64GB in total, or PC2-5300 (DDR2-667) kits up to 128GB. With every slot filled the memory bus runs at 533 MHz whichever kits you use. Every kit on this page is a matched set of DIMMs.

Specifications match the HP ProLiant BL495c G6 QuickSpecs. Every DIMM must be a PC2-5300 or PC2-6400 registered DDR2 DIMM, and both DIMMs in a bank must be identical.
How pairs, banks and bus speed fit together
Each processor has four memory banks of two slots; both slots of a bank take identical DIMMs, and bank A of processor 1 is always populated. The more DIMMs a processor carries, the slower the memory bus runs.

HPE: "The memory bus will operate at 800 MHz with four (4) or fewer DIMMs per processor, 667 MHz with six (6) DIMMs per processor, and 533 MHz with eight (8) DIMMs per processor." The document gives no count table beyond the pairs rule; the picker uses 2, 4, 6 or 8 DIMMs per processor.
Three rules that avoid a return
1 Registered PC2-5300 or PC2-6400 only
HPE: all DIMMs must be PC2-5300 registered DDR2 DIMMs (667 MHz) or PC2-6400 registered DDR2 DIMMs (800 MHz). The 2GB, 4GB and 8GB kits on this page are PC2-6400; the 16GB and 64GB kits are PC2-5300. If memory is already installed, match what is there.
2 Fill banks with identical pairs
Both slots of a bank must be populated with identical DIMMs. With mixed sizes, the largest DIMMs go in the bank farthest from the processor and the smallest nearest it.
3 Give every installed processor memory
A bank is active only when its processor is installed, and processor 1 bank A must always be populated. Populate the first bank of every processor for the best performance.
BL495c G6 memory questions
How much memory does the HP ProLiant BL495c G6 support?
Up to 128GB: 16 slots with 8GB PC2-5300 DIMMs, running at 533 MHz. With PC2-6400 DIMMs the maximum is 64GB, and HPE's bus rule applies there too: with all 16 slots filled (eight DIMMs per processor) the bus runs at 533 MHz; 800 MHz holds only with four or fewer DIMMs per processor.
What type of memory does the BL495c G6 use?
HPE DDR2 registered ECC DIMMs: PC2-6400 (DDR2-800) kits of 2 x 1GB, 2 x 2GB and 2 x 4GB (standard or low power), and PC2-5300 (DDR2-667) kits of 2 x 8GB and 8 x 8GB. Every kit is a matched set.
What speed will the memory run at?
