The 500W unit is the one to check twice: its documented support stops at a single 125W processor, and every processor kit carrying a live price here is 250W or more. HPE also documents an 1800W to 2200W Flex Slot Titanium supply for the heaviest builds — a platform option rather than one of the units listed here, and high-line only as well.
Choosing the Right ML350 Gen11 Power Supply
- Match rather than mix. Mixing two different power supplies is not supported, so the installed unit is the specification for the second.
- Check the circuit before ordering 1600W Platinum. It takes 200 to 240 VAC only, which rules out standard North American line voltage.
- Size to the build, not to the ceiling. A supply running far below its rated load sits away from its best efficiency point, and HPE publishes a Power Advisor for sizing.
- Count the fans as part of the power question. Heavy configurations call for the Redundant Fan Kit and the Second CPU Fan Kit before they call for more watts.
- −48VDC is a different world. That unit belongs in racks fed by DC rectifiers, not as an alternative to an AC supply.
