HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen11 Drives
Upgrade your HPE ProLiant ML350 Gen11 tower server with genuine hot-plug drives. This expandable 4U tower (5U rack-mountable) supports 2.5-inch (SFF), 3.5-inch (LFF), and EDSFF (E3.S) drives across SAS, SATA, and NVMe interfaces — and every drive we sell is guaranteed compatible with your ML350 Gen11.
ML350 Gen11 Drive Specifications
- Form factors & bays: 2.5-inch SFF (up to 24 hot-plug bays), 3.5-inch LFF (up to 12 bays), and E3.S EDSFF NVMe (up to 12 bays), across three drive boxes — mixed SFF and LFF configurations are supported.
- Interfaces & types: SAS (24G and 12G), SATA (6G), and NVMe (U.3 and E3.S, PCIe Gen5) — available as both hard drives (HDD) and solid-state drives (SSD).
- Capacities: SSDs from 240GB up to 15.36TB; HDDs up to 2.4TB (SFF) or 26TB (LFF).
- Carriers: HPE Gen11 SFF Basic Carrier (BC) for SAS/SATA/U.3 NVMe, LFF carrier for SAS/SATA, and EDSFF carrier for E3.S NVMe.
- Boot & RAID: optional NS204i-u boot device (two M.2 NVMe SSDs in RAID 1), embedded Intel® VROC, and HPE MR-series Smart Array / TriMode controllers.
Before you order, match the drive to your chassis and backplane. The ML350 Gen11 ships in SFF, LFF, and EDSFF configurations with different backplanes, so confirm three things: the form factor (2.5-inch SFF, 3.5-inch LFF, or E3.S EDSFF), the interface your backplane supports (SAS, SATA, or NVMe), and the correct Gen11 carrier. TriMode (U.3) backplanes accept SAS, SATA, or NVMe in the same bay, but the LFF chassis is SAS/SATA only and does not support NVMe.
Drive Form Factors, Interfaces & Carriers
The ML350 Gen11 is built for storage flexibility, with three drive boxes that accept a mix of cages. SFF (2.5-inch) scales from 8 to 24 bays and accepts SAS, SATA, or U.3 NVMe on TriMode backplanes. LFF (3.5-inch) scales from 4 to 12 bays for high-capacity SAS/SATA HDDs (NVMe is not supported in LFF). EDSFF (E3.S) adds an all-NVMe option of up to 12 PCIe Gen5 drives for high flash density. SFF and LFF cages can be mixed in the same system, and the tower also supports GPU accelerators and an optional internal optical or tape drive.
On TriMode (U.3) backplanes, a single bay can take a SAS, SATA, or NVMe drive, giving you room to mix media as needs change. SFF drives use HPE's Gen11 Basic Carrier (BC) — distinct from the Smart Carrier used on Gen10 and Gen10 Plus servers — so confirm your drives ship in the correct Gen11 carrier for proper fit, hot-plug operation, and status-LED function. ML350 Gen11 Drive FAQ
What drives are compatible with the HPE ML350 Gen11?
Hot-plug SAS, SATA, and NVMe drives in 2.5-inch SFF, 3.5-inch LFF, or E3.S EDSFF form factors, as both HDDs and SSDs. The drive's form factor and interface must match your installed chassis and backplane, and SFF drives should use the Gen11 Basic Carrier.
How many drives does the ML350 Gen11 support?
Up to 24 SFF (2.5-inch) drives, up to 12 LFF (3.5-inch) drives, or up to 12 E3.S EDSFF NVMe drives, configured across the server's three drive boxes (SFF and LFF cages can be mixed).
Does the ML350 Gen11 support NVMe SSDs?
Yes. It supports U.3 NVMe in 2.5-inch bays (on TriMode/U.3 backplanes) and up to 12 E3.S EDSFF NVMe drives, both over PCIe Gen5. The LFF chassis is SAS/SATA only and does not accept NVMe.
What carrier do ML350 Gen11 drives use?
2.5-inch drives use HPE's Gen11 Basic Carrier (BC), which differs from the Smart Carrier used on Gen10 and Gen10 Plus servers. Be sure any drive you buy ships in the correct Gen11 carrier so it seats properly and reports drive status correctly.
