The DL385 G7 is the AMD half of this generation, and that is not a detail. It runs AMD Opteron 6100 and 6200 series processors across 24 DDR3 sockets to 512GB. Common Slot power supplies and the embedded Smart Array P410i are shared with the Intel DL380 G7 of the same chassis family; processors and DIMMs are not.

Up to two AMD Opteron processors, from the 6100 series in eight- and twelve-core forms to the 6200 series in quad-, eight-, twelve- and sixteen-core forms. Two sixteen-core parts is the documented ceiling of 32 cores.

How much memory can a DL385 G7 take?
512GB using Registered DIMMs, or 64GB using Unbuffered DIMMs. The server has 24 DDR3 sockets, twelve per processor, and only half of them are available when one processor is installed.

How many hard drives fit in a DL385 G7?
Eight hot-plug 2.5-inch SFF drives as standard, sixteen with the optional second SFF drive cage, or six 3.5-inch LFF drives with the large form factor cage. The sixteen-bay build also needs a second controller or the SAS Expander Card.

Which RAID controller is built into the DL385 G7?
An embedded HPE Smart Array P410i. Entry models ship it with zero memory, base models with a 256MB cache or a 512MB flash backed write cache, and high performance models with a 1GB flash backed write cache.

Does the DL385 G7 have onboard network ports?
Yes. Two embedded HPE NC382i dual-port Multifunction Gigabit Server Adapters give four RJ-45 ports on a Broadcom 5709C controller, and iLO 3 management has a fifth port of its own.

What is the difference between the DL385 G7 and the DL380 G7?
