Genuine HPE rack hardware for the HPE ProLiant DL360e Gen8, new and refurbished. Rails are not standard on this platform — HPE states that Gen8 rail kits are optional and no longer included with the server — so the rails, the cable management arm and everything else in the cabinet are separate part numbers.

- Form factor: 1U rack, 1.7 x 17.1 x 27.5 in on the 8 SFF chassis and 1.7 x 17.1 x 29.5 in on the 4 LFF, at a maximum 17.14 kg and 17.40 kg
- Ball Bearing rail kits: 663201-B21 for SFF and 663202-B21 for LFF — telescoping, in-rack serviceable
- Easy Install rail kits: 734807-B21 for SFF and 734809-B21 for LFF — full extension rails
- Cable management arms are rail-specific: 663203-B21 supports Ball Bearing only and 734811-B21 Easy Install only; no 1U Gen8 arm works with Friction Rails
- Location discovery: 36U, 42U and 47U Location Discovery Kits (BW945A, BW946A, BW947A)
- Console access: LCD8500 1U rackmount console kits in eight regional versions, USB keyboard and mouse kits by locale, a rack LED light kit and the KVM USB console adapter (336047-B21)

Chassis depth is the number to check before ordering. The 8 SFF version is 27.5 inches long and the 4 LFF version 29.5 inches, which is why each rail family carries separate SFF and LFF part numbers rather than one universal rail. HPE also warns that Gen8 rail kits changed significantly from prior generations.
Choosing the Right DL360e Gen8 Rack Options
- A DL360e Gen8 with no rails is normal. HPE states rail kits are optional for Gen8 and no longer included standard, so a bare second-hand chassis is not missing a part.
- Match the kit to the chassis. SFF and LFF rails are different part numbers because the two chassis are two inches apart in depth.
- Match the arm to the rails: the Ball Bearing and Easy Install arms are not interchangeable, and none works with Friction Rails.
- Size location discovery to the rack: the 36U, 42U and 47U kits are separate part numbers.
- Two people for the install. HPE's repeated caution is that a minimum of two people is required for all rack server installations.

Not necessarily. HPE states that Gen8 rail kits are optional and no longer included standard with the server, and that rail kits and cable management solutions are optional in the configure-to-order process. Rails are ordered as a separate part number.
Which rail kit fits a DL360e Gen8?
It depends on the chassis. The Ball Bearing kits are 663201-B21 for SFF models and 663202-B21 for LFF models; the Easy Install kits are 734807-B21 for SFF and 734809-B21 for LFF. The two chassis differ in depth, so the kits are not interchangeable.
Can I use older HP rails with a DL360e Gen8?
HPE advises against it. The QuickSpecs state that Gen8 rail kits have changed significantly from prior generation rail kits and ask you to review the installation documentation that ships with the server.
Which cable management arm works with my DL360e Gen8 rails?
The arm has to match the rail family. 663203-B21 supports the Ball Bearing rail kit only, and 734811-B21 supports the Easy Install rail kits only. HPE also notes that the 1U Gen8 Cable Management Arm is not available when using Friction Rails.
How deep is the DL360e Gen8 and how much does it weigh?
The 8 SFF version measures 1.7 x 17.1 x 27.5 inches and the 4 LFF version 1.7 x 17.1 x 29.5 inches. HPE quotes a maximum weight of 17.14 kg for the SFF chassis and 17.40 kg for the LFF, with minimums of 13.20 kg and 13.65 kg.
Do I need a KVM switch to manage a DL360e Gen8?
Not usually. HPE iLO 4 is standard with a dedicated 1Gb management port, Agentless Management and Intelligent Provisioning. The KVM USB console interface adapter 336047-B21 and the LCD8500 console kits are there for rack-side access when the network is down.
