Choosing the Right DL345 Gen10 Plus Network Adapter
- Spend the one OCP slot deliberately. There is only one, it takes SFF adapters below 35W, and it leaves the PCIe slots free for storage controllers and higher-speed cards.
- Match the media to your fabric: BASE-T for existing copper, SFP28 and QSFP with DACs or optics ordered separately.
- Above 25GbE, plan cooling and risers together. The 100Gb and 200Gb cards call for the Maximum Performance Fan Kit, and more than two x16 cards calls for the x16 Secondary Riser Kit.

Does the HPE ProLiant DL345 Gen10 Plus have built-in Ethernet ports?
No. The Interfaces table lists network ports as none, with a choice of OCP or stand-up card. The 1Gb dedicated iLO management port and the front iLO service port are separate from production networking.
How many OCP slots does the DL345 Gen10 Plus have?
One. The QuickSpecs state that only one slot is available for OCP adapters, and that only SFF OCP adapters below 35W can be supported.
What is the difference between OCP and PCIe network adapters?
The same networking silicon in two mounting formats. OCP 3.0 adapters slide into the dedicated OCP slot and, as the QuickSpecs put it, do not consume a PCIe slot; PCIe stand-up cards use the primary or secondary riser.
Do 100GbE adapters need extra cooling in the DL345 Gen10 Plus?
Yes, with one stated exception. The notes require the Maximum Performance Fan Kit for the 100/200 Gb cards, except the Intel E810-CQDA2, which is called out as needing neither the fan kit nor an ambient temperature restriction. InfiniBand cards also require the fan kit.
Do SFP28 and QSFP adapters include transceivers?
No. The QuickSpecs state that Direct Attach Cables for copper environments, or fiber transceivers and cables for fiber-optic environments, must be purchased separately. BASE-T adapters connect with standard copper patch cables.
