850882-001 is the HPE spare part number for 64GB (1x64GB) Quad Rank x4 DDR4-2666 CAS-19-19-19 Load Reduced Smart Memory Kit. This is the number printed on the module label and referenced in HPE service documentation and iLO event logs, so it is what you match against when a DIMM has been flagged failed or degraded. The module is a 288-pin DDR4 LRDIMM rated at 2666 MHz (PC4-21300), quad rank, x4 organization, 8192 x 72 configuration, with ECC and 1.2 V operation at CAS latency CL19 (19-19-19). It is a direct replacement for the same module in a Gen10 server slot.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT 850882-001

What is the difference between 850882-001 and 815101-B21?

They are the same physical memory module under different HPE numbering schemes. This page, 850882-001, is the spare part number: the identifier used for replacement units and the one you will typically see on the module label and in service documentation. 815101-B21 is the option kit number, used when the memory is ordered as a configurable add-on. This family also has one assembly revision, all shown in the cross-reference block on the page. An assembly part number identifies a specific manufacturing build of the same module.

Will this module drop into the slot my failed DIMM came out of?

If the failed module reports 850882-001 or one of its cross-referenced numbers, yes. It is a 288-pin LRDIMM, DDR4-2666, quad rank, x4, 64 GB, ECC, 1.2 V, CL19. HPE lists it for BL460c, DL360, DL380, DL560, DL580, ML110, ML350, XL170r and XL190r Gen10 servers with 1st generation processors. Populate according to the server's DIMM population rules for your processor and memory configuration.

What arrives in the box?

A single 64 GB DDR4 LRDIMM. The kit is 1x64GB, so one module ships per kit, not a matched pair or set. If your server logged multiple failed DIMMs, or your population rules require balanced channels across processors, order the number of individual modules your configuration calls for rather than assuming a multi-module kit.

Why does this module require Load-Reduced rather than Registered DIMMs?

This is a Load-Reduced DIMM (LRDIMM), which buffers both address and data lines to reduce electrical load on the memory controller. That buffering is what allows the quad rank, x4 organization at 64 GB per module. LRDIMMs and RDIMMs cannot be mixed within a server. If the system previously ran registered memory, this part is not a substitute; replace like for like with the LRDIMM the slot was populated with.

Does the CAS-19-19-19 timing matter when replacing a single DIMM?

It matters for matching. This module runs at 2666 MHz, PC4-21300, with CL19 latency timings of 19-19-19 at 1.2 V. Memory in a server operates at the speed and timing of the slowest installed module and at what the processor supports. Replacing a failed DIMM with this identical spare keeps timings consistent across the channel and avoids the system downclocking the remaining installed memory.
