HPE ProLiant DL525 Gen13 Networking Adapters
Genuine HPE network adapters for the HPE ProLiant DL525 Gen13, new and refurbished, shipped tested or factory sealed. The DL525 Gen13 has no embedded network ports: HPE lists the network port as none, with a choice of OCP 3.0 modules or PCIe stand-up adapters. This page covers the Ethernet adapters in both forms, the InfiniBand adapters and data processing units, and the Fibre Channel host bus adapters HPE lists for the server.

The DL525 Gen13 ships with no network ports at all. HPE lists the network port as none: every port comes from an OCP 3.0 module or a PCIe 6.0 stand-up card you add. One rear OCP 3.0 slot is standard and the front OCP slot is optional. Speeds up to 100GbE exist in both forms; 400GbE, InfiniBand, the DPUs and Fibre Channel are PCIe stand-up only, and the two data processing units need the 8-pin ATX power cable kit HPE lists beside them.
Which DL525 Gen13 network adapter do I need?
Choose the port speed and media first, then the form factor. Most speeds up to 100GbE are available both as an OCP 3.0 module, which keeps the PCIe slots free, and as a PCIe stand-up card; 400GbE, InfiniBand, the DPUs and Fibre Channel are PCIe stand-up only.

Choosing the Right DL525 Gen13 Network Adapter
- The OCP slot is shared with storage. HPE's storage configurations can place an MR408i-o or MR416i-o controller in an OCP slot. With one rear OCP slot standard, decide whether that slot carries networking or storage; the optional front OCP slot adds a second position.
- Match the transceiver to the cage. HPE lists SFP+, SFP28, SFP56, QSFP28, QSFP56, QSFP112 and OSFP cages across these adapters; a 10/25Gb SFP28 adapter and a 100Gb QSFP112 adapter take different optics and cables.
- Dual-rate means 10Gb or 25Gb per port. The Broadcom BCM57414 adapters are listed as 10/25Gb dual rate; the other 10/25Gb adapters are also listed at both speeds.
- Power the DPUs. HPE lists a ProLiant Gen13 DPU 8-pin 0.2m ATX power cable kit alongside the two data processing units; it is under Cable Kits on the DL525 Gen13 parts page.
- Front FHFL PCIe slots are the GPU slots. On the Front FHFL PCIe server the four front x16 slots are where HPE places the accelerators; the rear slots and the OCP slots are where the network adapters go.

DL525 Gen13 Networking Adapters FAQ
Does the HPE ProLiant DL525 Gen13 have onboard network ports?
No. HPE lists the network port as none, with a choice of OCP 3.0 or stand-up card instead. One rear OCP 3.0 slot is standard and a front OCP 3.0 slot is optional, so every network port on this server comes from an adapter you add.
What is the fastest network adapter for the DL525 Gen13?
400Gb per port. HPE lists the Slingshot SA410S 400GbE 1-port QSFP PCIe5 HHHL NIC and the AMD Pollara Ethernet 400Gb 1-port adapter, and the InfiniBand XDR400/Ethernet 400GbE 2-port QSFP112 PCIe6 x16 CX8 Crypto adapter. All are PCIe stand-up cards.
Should I choose an OCP 3.0 adapter or a PCIe card?
If the speed you need exists as an OCP 3.0 module, it leaves the PCIe 6.0 slots free for storage controllers, GPUs or InfiniBand. The EDSFF server has up to three PCIe slots, so OCP is the usual home for the main Ethernet connection unless the OCP slot is carrying an MR -o storage controller.
Does the DL525 Gen13 support InfiniBand?
Yes. HPE lists the InfiniBand XDR400/Ethernet 400GbE 2-port QSFP112 and XDR/Ethernet 2x400GbE 1-port OSFP CX8 Crypto adapters on PCIe6 x16, the NDR200/Ethernet 200GbE 2-port QSFP112 adapter on PCIe5 x16, and two data processing units, the B3220 (NDR200, 2-port) and B3140H (NDR, 1-port).
Does the DL525 Gen13 support Fibre Channel?
Yes, through host bus adapters. HPE lists the SN1620E 32Gb 2-port and SN1720E 64Gb 2-port FC SecureHBA for this server; both are PCIe stand-up cards.
Can I use my DL325 Gen12 network adapters in a DL525 Gen13?
Several of the same OCP 3.0 and PCIe Ethernet adapters appear in both servers' HPE option lists, so check the part number against the DL525 Gen13 list on this page before assuming it carries over. The 400GbE adapters and the CX8 XDR InfiniBand adapters are listed here on PCIe6 x16 and are specific to this generation's option list.
