- Option kits: 460W and 750W Gold, 460W, 750W and 1200W Platinum Plus at 94%, the 750W Titanium at 96%, and a 750W -48VDC that ships without a cable
- Redundancy: two hot-plug rear bays, bay 1 primary and bay 2 optional, for 1+1 through an option kit
- Rated output: 460W and 750W hold full rating on both bands; the 1200W gives 800W at 100 VAC, 900W at 120 VAC and 1200W only at 200–240 VAC
- Input: rated line voltage 100–120 and 200–240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz
- Mixing and IPD: mixing supplies in one server is not supported, nor mixing Gold, Platinum and Platinum Plus; non-matched supplies produce errors and fail, and Intelligent Power Discovery needs Platinum Plus or Titanium
Only the 1200W supply derates on low line. The 460W and 750W Common Slot supplies hold their full rating at 100–120 VAC and at 200–240 VAC, while the 1200W delivers 800W at 100 VAC, 900W at 120 VAC and 1200W only at 200 to 240 VAC. Mixing power supplies in one server is not supported — every supply must be exactly the same model.

Read the second column before sizing a 25 SFF build; current and heat are quoted at 100 and 200 VAC. The 460W and 750W hold their label across both bands, so only the 1200W carries a low-line penalty — a third of its rating on 100 VAC. Rated input power follows suit: 526W and 505W, 857W and 824W, then 930W and 1348W.
Choosing the Right DL380e Gen8 Power Supply
- Match the exact model installed. All supplies must be the same model and mixing grades is not supported, so order the part number in bay 1, not just the wattage.
- Right-size rather than over-buy. Three output options exist so a configuration can be matched to its load; HPE recommends the Power Advisor first.
- Check the feed before choosing 1200W. The 200–240 VAC band is where it delivers its full rating; a 25 SFF build on 100 VAC gets 800W.
- Efficiency grade is a purchase decision: Platinum Plus at 94%, the 750W Titanium at 96%, and only those two enable Intelligent Power Discovery. Refurbished supplies are sealed, tested hot-plug modules and the usual way to fill bay 2.

Does the 1200W supply deliver 1200W on a 120V circuit?
No. Its rated steady-state output is 800W at 100 VAC, 900W at 120 VAC and 1200W at 200 to 240 VAC. The 460W and 750W supplies are rated at their full output across both 100 to 120 VAC and 200 to 240 VAC.
Can I mix power supplies in a DL380e Gen8?
No. HPE states that mixing power supplies in the same server is not supported, that all supplies must be exactly the same model, and that mixing Gold, Platinum and Platinum Plus certified supplies is not supported. Non-matched supplies produce errors and fail to operate.
How many power supplies does a DL380e Gen8 hold?
Two, in hot-plug bays at the rear - bay 1 is the primary supply and bay 2 is optional. HPE lists optional 1+1 redundant power as something purchased through a power supply option kit.
Do DL380e Gen8 power supply kits include a power cord?
The option kits contain the power supply, an IEC power cable and PDU IEC cables. ProLiant DL servers ship with a 6-foot C-14 to C13 PDU cord (A0K02A) rather than a 110V wall cord, so a NEMA 5-15 to C13 cord is ordered separately.
What is the difference between Gold, Platinum Plus and Titanium supplies?
Efficiency, and what they enable. HPE rates the Platinum Plus kits at 94% and the 750W Titanium at 96%. Platinum Plus and Titanium are the grades required for HP Intelligent Power Discovery, and grades must not be mixed in one server.
