The DL380 Gen11 runs 4th Gen (DDR5-4800) or 5th Gen (DDR5-5600) Intel Xeon Scalable processors, and the firmware for 5th Gen CPUs is not compatible with system boards that shipped with 4th Gen — memory and processor choices both hang on which build you have.

What is the difference between 4th Gen and 5th Gen Xeon in the DL380 Gen11?
The DL380 Gen11 shipped with 4th Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors (up to 60 cores, DDR5-4800) and later added 5th Generation models (up to 64 cores, DDR5-5600). The CPU generation sets your memory speed grade - and the firmware for 5th Gen processors is not compatible with system boards that shipped with 4th Gen CPUs, so processors are not a casual cross-generation swap.

How much memory does the DL380 Gen11 support?
Up to 8TB of DDR5: 32 DIMM slots (16 per processor) with modules from 16GB to 256GB 3DS. Note the chassis matters - 24SFF configurations support a maximum of 16 DIMMs.

What drives does the DL380 Gen11 accept?
Hot-plug 2.5-inch SFF drives on U.3 Basic Carriers, 3.5-inch LFF drives, and EDSFF E3.S NVMe - up to 36 SAS/SATA SFF drives, 20 LFF (with the rear cage), or 36 EDSFF, depending on configuration.

Does the DL380 Gen11 have built-in network ports?
No - the QuickSpecs state 'no embedded networking' aside from the dedicated iLO management port. Every configuration takes an OCP 3.0 or PCIe stand-up adapter for production traffic.

Can I mix new and refurbished parts in the DL380 Gen11?
