How many drives fit in a DL360 Gen12?
Depending on chassis: up to 10 SFF drives, up to 20 EDSFF E3.S drives in the 10SFF/20EDSFF hybrid configuration, or 4 LFF spindles. The 8SFF chassis adds an optional Universal Media Bay.

Does the HPE ProLiant DL360 Gen12 support 3.5-inch LFF drives?
Yes - the 4LFF chassis takes SAS and SATA spindles up to 26TB each, for 104TB of raw capacity in 1U.

Can I use drives from a Gen9 or Gen10 ProLiant in the DL360 Gen12?
No - those generations use the Smart Carrier (SC) tray, while Gen12 bays take Basic Carrier (BC) and EDSFF drives. Drives must be sourced in the correct Gen12 carrier.

What's the difference between Read Intensive and Mixed Use SSDs?
Endurance. Read Intensive drives are rated around 1 drive write per day and cost less per TB; Mixed Use drives are rated around 3 DWPD for write-heavy databases and virtualization. Match the class to your workload and never mix classes in one array.

Do DL360 Gen12 NVMe drives need a RAID controller?
Not necessarily. NVMe drives can run direct-attached with software RAID, or through a tri-mode MR controller (MR416i family, or the PCIe Gen5 MR932i-p for SSD-only arrays) when you want hardware RAID.
