The processor is not an upgrade on this server, and the chassis decides the rest. HPE lists every DL20 Gen11 processor as a factory-installed option only, so there is no processors page here. What you buy for it is memory, drives, a controller, network adapters and power supplies — and the 2 LFF non-hot-plug model takes SATA on the embedded controller only, while the 4 SFF model is the one that reaches six drives and takes NVMe.

One Intel Xeon 6300-series, Xeon E-2400-series or Pentium G7400 processor, from 2 to 12 cores and 46W to 95W. HPE lists every DL20 Gen11 processor as a factory-installed option only, so there is no processor upgrade kit and no processors page for this model.

How much memory does the DL20 Gen11 support?
128GB, as four 32GB DDR5 UDIMMs at 4400 MT/s. The server has 4 DIMM slots on 2 channels at 2 DIMMs per channel and takes HPE DDR5 Standard Memory, which is unbuffered ECC memory.

How many drives does a DL20 Gen11 hold?
It depends on the chassis: 2 LFF bays on the LFF models, or 4 SFF bays on the SFF model with an optional 2 SFF enablement kit for 6. All models also have two M.2 slots, and NVMe U.3 drives are limited to two and require the 2 SFF kit.

Does the DL20 Gen11 have a RAID controller built in?
Yes, Intel VROC SATA Hybrid RAID, which is disabled by default and enabled in the BIOS. It supports RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10 on SATA drives. For SAS or NVMe drives, or hardware RAID with cache, HPE lists the MR216i-p, MR216i-o and MR408i-o Gen11 controllers.

Can I add a 10GbE or 25GbE network card to a DL20 Gen11?
Yes. The server has one PCIe 5.0 x16 slot and one OCP 3.0 slot, and HPE lists 10GbE and 25GbE adapters for both. The limit is one PCIe adapter and one OCP adapter, and the OCP adapter requires the External OCP Cable Kit.

Which power supplies does the DL20 Gen11 use?
HPE Flex Slot hot-plug kits: 500W Platinum, 800W Titanium or 1000W Titanium, up to two for 1+1 redundancy. A second supply must be the same part number as the first; mixing is not supported. The 290W non-redundant supplies HPE lists are factory-installed only.
